This is a strange press release from the CHP. Don’t they usually give a brief description about what happened? Or is that only Sheriff’s office?

Read it. Meeting head on does not say what happened to have cars meet head on. Or at least is not said as usual “for unknown reason.”

It’s under investigation. It was not clear to them who went over the center line. They have to investigate and figure out where the collision began- not always so easy as vehicles move a lot after impact. I have driven over the center line a couple times on that road. Going too fast for a curve and that sinking feeling of screwing up bad….I was lucky nobody was there. I think many of us have done that on 299 and it made us much more careful. I’m very sorry these folks -whoever went over the line- were not so lucky. It’s a tough road…

You a very correct. It does not say how they managed to meet head on. I believe this could only have happened if one or the other vehicles involved was over the center line.

unfortunately this happens multiple times a day. It’s been almost 3 years since I have seen cops pull people over for speeding. Mostly everyone is doing 10+ MPH over the speed limit.

You should drive 101 in South Leggett. I seldom go through there without seeing someone stopped.

That’s a tricky spot because even if you are going the speed limit the downhill causes you to go faster. Yep, CHP staking there a lot. Agree with Kacey, though, everybody is speeding. Especially worrisome on the windy two lanes.
