Plan A- Drive Away. It is the Kitchener Effect in action. It is now very rare that anybody stops to render aid after they hit anybody. The judges have made it so everybody knows it is much better to flee than to help….Marci Kitchener the murderer is free to drive around so what do we expect?

Her daughter and her daughters friend. The other girl was a niece to a good friend of mine.

I think the daughter’s friend’s father hit a pedestrian some time after that.

A help would be a stiffer penalty for leaving the accident than for driving while impaired. And amp up enforcement as most hit and runs are never caught.  It might be possible to locate a vehicle involved in a hit and run but much harder to prove who was driving it . Lawyers push that for all it’s worth making them very hard cases to prove and get a jury to agree.  Could be stolen or borrowed but the owner doesn’t know by whom.  The defendant only has to sow doubt, not prove it is even possible.  So doubt is created no matter how unlikely it is. And jurors fear that they could be caught by the same thing and vote accordingly.  The more car thefts, the easier it is to sow doubt.

Or just trying them, convicting them, and sentencing them under existing laws…

Well that’s what goes on now. You just miss being aware of the beyond reasonable doubt, public attorney, jury won’t convict stuff. You’re assuming that people are not doing their jobs because you don’t like the outcome when is just in reality people doing their jobs results in what you don’t like.

For the Record: Marci Kitchen was charged with and pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter, drunk driving and hit and run for running over and killing her daughter and her daughter’s friend while they were skateboarding. Their bodies were thrown 300 to 350 feet, more than the length of a football field! But accidents happen, right? She tried to conceal evidence, even trying to get her son to help her hide evidence that she killed his sister! Then she spent two years lying and denying before pleading guilty.

Based on the crimes charged the she could have been sentenced to 11 years and 4 months. For some reason the judge showed leniency and only sentenced her to 8 years. But based on Gov. Newsom’s “imminent release” program, she was let out in less than 2 years.

Thank you. And maybe it’s just me but I have seen many more hit and runs since the time she gamed the system and a weak judge let her off easy. Oh yeah- remember how she was allowed to travel to South America while on bail (and snort up lots more cocaine). Her boyfriend’s dad was an old weed lawyer who must have called in favors for her. Sleazy all around…

You realize the judges don’t “make” the laws right? Moronic voters that passed propositions such as 47 and 57 have far more blame to to credit for. This is what happens when you fail to hold criminal conduct accountable…… Just keep voting blue though folks, it’s going to solve this sort of thing for sure.

When you’re responsible for injuring another and you flee the scene without rendering aid, you have no soul.

Hit and run, driving with a suspended license and crashing into telephone poles is the norm in Humboldt County.

Not a telephone pole; a human being.

When i was hit by a truck while walking my dog, the police didn’t even go to the hospital. They were at the scene and I thought they would follow the ambulance. But nope

We’re you hit on June 2? That is National Donut Day and coppers get a pass on not arriving anywhere that is a hassle that day.

What more would be accomplished by the police going to the hospital?

The law is lenient. Hit and runners are lacking in responsibility for checking to see how another may be harmed. I wonder how they would feel if someone were to hit them or their children and leave the scene? Another comment bothers me. Did Farce travel with Marci Kitchen and watch her do cocaine? Rumor are damaging!

Yes, very disturbing how many times I have been hearing about hit and runs recently. What is happening with the lack of compassion for human life?.
