It is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Redwood Discovery Museum, and free for the public to view.

The Perilous Plunge sets the museum’s budget for the year, and helps the nonprofit organization provide scholarships, programs, exhibits, and more. The Plunge is how the Discovery Museum is able to continue offering fun, educational, positive childhood experiences to Humboldt families.

At 9:45am, the bravest folks in Humboldt will join the parade led by Cal Poly’s Marching Lumberjacks. After the parade reaches the docks at the foot of F street, these amazing human beings will jump into the bay, then head to the VIP tent for a soak in the hot tub, warm lunch, and a cocktail (21+). The Judges will rate each plunger and team for their costume and jump. An awards ceremony will follow the main event; awards for Best Jump, Wackiest Costume, Grand Poobahs, and more will be distributed.

Participants can still sign up to plunge. Individuals and teams can sign up at www.discovery-museum.org/perilous-plunge. Collect pledges from family, friends, and anyone who would like to see you jump into Humboldt Bay for a good cause! Minimum pledge amount is $175 per plunger.
