The State of the Roads in Northwestern California With a Look Into the Slide at the Humboldt/Mendocino County Line

All major highways are open in northwestern California. The weather is mainly cloudy with showers this afternoon and evening. This evening, snow showers could drop to 4000 feet which is above all major roadways in our area.

Hwy 101 near the Humboldt/Mendocino County line has been giving Caltrans trouble since January and the series of storms that have slapped the area since then have caused even more issues.

Local drone photographer Shane Traweek captured these images of the area yesterday which shows a newly paved roadway to the west of 101. According to Manny Machado, spokesperson for Caltrans, “Presently, the Milky Way slip out situation is stable as we determine the best long term repairs. We hope to expedite construction in the coming weeks. We don’t expect to need this- but in the event the section of roadway has to be fully closed, there is a detour in place, ready to be used for the traveling public.”

Is that a large volume of water accumulated to the west of the new pavement…???
If that is water, I wouldn’t be surprised if the road completely slips out…

That seems to be the root of the problem…

The culvert that runs half way down to the river seems to be flowing nothing…

Draining that water, or pumping it out, before it’s too late, is 101’s only hope.

The 4,000 foot snow level forecast is a relief for those under 4,000 feet anyway…

Al Gore was sniveling about global warming awhile back. Been a pretty cold and wet winter despite all the “record” warm temperatures that DC’s Pravda has been screeching about lately. I hope Greta Thunberg’s and John Kerry’s private jets have heaters.

Putting your lack of understanding of climate change on display amuses the rest of us. Keep up the good work

The worst thing about ignorance is that those that dwell within it have no awareness that they do.

A very sad way to reply to a question regularly used by ring seekers to shut down any discourse. It’s basically the Pinto of responses and very well earned. Scientific information is available to all who seek the truth. That includes Geology. That, is a beautiful thing and presents an ongoing conundrum for those seeking the Ring.

Sadly, most people need “educated” as they are not capable of autodidacticism.

But, in their ignorance, that’s not something they would figure out on their own, either

Actually Al Gore’s book on climate change “ An Inconvenient Truth” is mostly a compilation of data, with pictures for non readers, gathered over several decades by NASA, NOAA and the US Navy. It is not something that popped into his head. In it we found access to information that caused us to relocate to Northern Humboldt because it is considered the least likely spot in California to suffer from long term drought. Just last year a study was published that said that Brookings, Oregon was the place in Oregon, Washington and Idaho least likely to be affected by climate change. Our Eureka water supply in Ruth Lake is 88 miles from Brookings. A person who spent just the tiniest bit of time researching climate change would know predictions of localized flooding worldwide are part of the problem. If economics has made it hard to buy a copy of “ An Inconvenient Truth” a free library card would allow a person to educate themselves. Or they could snivel.

“Decades of data” compiled by government agencies are paid for by our tax dollars to formulate a political narrative. An educated and informed person would surmise that whoever is funding the research is going to get the result they wish.

Eons of naturally occurring climate pattern changes show that any occurrence now is normal regardless of how we power our vehicles, homes and industry. The hubris of the globalists driving the narrative is merely shrugged off by our home planet.

Hope you’re enjoying the weather, wherever you are!

Climate change is focused on greenland, watch them get frozen over this summer. That’s when the goal posts will move and people will start to turn on EVs, crack me up. Pro-tip Science moves at a snails pace.

For sure on that! Hard working taxpayers getting tired of being overtaxed. They about to claim exempt and be done with millionaire politicians. Feel sorry for everyone on social security, but sometimes change is needed.
