Released Condor, Poy-we-son, in His Home
Last week, local wildlife photographer, Ann Constantino, filmed a soothing video of three of the eight condors that were released last year circling above Redwood Creek in northern Humboldt.
Constantino was lucky enough to come upon one of the condors perched in a tree. The large creature let her and her friends watch him closely. They were able to identify him by his wing tag.
Constantino wrote on her Facebook page, “This bird, Poy-we-son (‘the one who goes ahead’ in Yurok language) was the one who explored for two weeks on his own …after release.”
This last week Constantino was able to capture him on film. (The following photos are slightly blurry due to the vast distance from which the shots were taken and haze.)
Constantino, through her Facebook page and Flickr account, share stunning photos of wildlife on the north coast. Or follow Ann on her YouTube page here.
