After years of presiding over the near extinction of legacy farmers and wreaking havoc on their communities “the Cultivation Subcommittee [of the DCC] will hear presentations on opportunities and regulatory structures …that support small producers.”
Modeled on the alcohol industry, of course. If DCC had any legit interest in supporting small farmers they would not have blown off the one acre cap that was supposed to be in place for 5 years.
How to destroy a cottage industry in 7 easy steps:
1) Sunset collectives and cooperatives; 2) Define cultivation (including medical) as commerce instead of agriculture;
3) Ban direct sales and require distros;
4) Impose ruinous tax and fee schedules;
5) Impose numerous regs that apply only to cannabis, like forebearance of established and legal water sources;
6) Blow off the one acre cap;
7) Bungle the permitting system at the state and local level.
What else?
Think you got them all
Great list. Pretty much covers it.
you forgot, don’t allow business write-offs
Right, or access to banking services except at rip off rates for those financial institutions willing to offer accounts to canna businesses.
Vote for a version of “legalization” that does not really guarantee a one acre cap and that is heavily tilted to a corporate takeover model from the very beginning. Trust the government that you will be free and safe…
Our government destroys everything it touches…
A little too late for that legalization was a scam from the start
The Cannabis Advisory Committee (CAC) has destroyed a once viable community and economy…
Or was it the DCC, acting on behalf of their corporate and government masters, who destroyed the industry, with the CACs providing after the fact window dressing?
Oh wait- I thought Project Trellis was going to save the small farms! lol Yeah- it was a planned corporate takeover and we just gave it to them…
On the bright side there is a ton of product to choose from at our local dispensaries at very reasonable prices. Quality farms 🚜 like Ridgeline are still doing it right ✅️ Support our local farmers by buying local products at our local stores. If everyone shops for cannabis products locally those still in the game can survive. The selection of edibles, concentrates and flowers is incredible and the quality and price just keeps getting better! Don’t Hate! Participate by supporting local businesses!
Great advice…Madrone is the victim of a hostile work environment…
