There seems to be an awful lot of car crashes in Eureka.

Best of luck to the two injured parties.

Power poles always in the way. Taking them down has become a Eureka sport.

It looks like it was a grayish color. Hard to tell in the dark, but doesn’t look blue

When they were first bought out by BMW I said that exact thing to a manager at a BMW dealership and was told they were very safe. I said I did not believe it. The following year BMW added the most airbags to it if any vehicle they produced at the time.

My sister, who lives in Virginia, has one. She got t-boned 2 years ago by some nitwit speeding, not paying attention and blew a stop light. My sister walked away with out a scratch, she bought another one.

Surprisingly, they are tough little hombres. Remember that actress, Anne Hecht who recently crashed her Mini going 90 mph into a house. The car caught on fire along with the house. She was extricated, car and all, with a fire department mobile crane 20 minutes later. The house was a total loss. The car looked to be in good shape considering. She died days later from smoke inhalation. If she was in a Prius, she would have died on impact followed by an uncontrollable Lithium battery fire which would have taken all day to put out. It appears Minis are well built mini tanks like those high end Mercedes. The Germans and English like heft backed up by strength unlike the regulators here who are are making vehicles lighter and lighter to meet utopian mpg and emission standards. The caveat is that electric vehicles are now being shoved down our throats with no thought about their weight due to 1,000 lb + toxic batteries. Safety went out the window to meet the Oscar the Man Caused Climate Change Grouch religions 666 Commandments to save the world. Drive a GroDozer, you will have no worries and will be able to drive right through buildings and keep moving right along.

All it takes to run a electric power motor is a simple car battery. No need for lithium batteries.

“The caveat is that electric vehicles are now being shoved down our throats with no thought about their weight due to 1,000 lb + toxic batteries.”

The electric cars have to be built heavier to support the weight of their huge batteries, which means they need more energy to propel the cars. Energy density matters.

Yup. Explains how e-bikes can run as much as 80 lbs. Pretty hefty.

In Ca. especially, no drivers license, no insurance, no registration, expired tags, has warrants, just cite and release and your good to go.

Agreed. Mandatory driver’s ed, and part of the course is spending two weeks walking everywhere.

Why do people always crash on the straightaway in Eureka? It seems like a very common occurrence and yet I am perplexed every time. How? I get the ones that are drunk and high but what about the others?

That section of Harris has a drop, along with an S curve, and this power pole has been replaced a couple of times over the years.

We have been telling kids they can do no wrong. Starts in school where everyone is a winner. Then stop punishing crimes and give free needles to the junkies. You end up with a group who have no consideration of others and no respect for the laws ./ How do you like your new generation. Its going to take years to fix. Maybe start with boot camp for all repeat idiots.

Maybe start by teaching respect at home, giving your child positive strokes when they are doing well, and extra help when they are faltering. Too many people leave the care of their children to the school system… You reap what you sow. Going to church together isn’t a bad idea, nor is eating meals together as a family around a table, not in front of the tv.Maybe this generation isn’t the bad generation…..

That must explain why the violent crime rate is so much lower than it was 40 years ago?

Sadly, a big beautiful flowering cherry tree was a casualty. Hopefully no structural damage to the home!

They are very lucky to be alive. Give a little empathy to the situation. We all make mistakes and have accidents.
