The County of Mendocino has begun the transition from response to recovery for the 2022-2023 Winter Storms event.

The County is seeking assistance from the public to self-report damage resulting from the severe weather storms that occurred from December 2022 to January 2023.

This information will be used to assist the County in understanding the severity of the private property damage and request assistance from nonprofit, state, and federal partners.

The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MendoWinterStormDamageSurvey

Please complete the survey by no later than close of business on Friday, February 3rd, 2023.

At this time FEMA has not authorized individual assistance to private property damaged by the winter storms.

As more recovery resources become available, we will publish the updates on the county’s social media below.

Just think twice before reporting information to Mendocino County. They have a nasty habit of coming back and using it against you. Requiring you to make repairs or upgrades while actually charging you for permits etc rather than offering assistance. Or using your misfortune to get money for county coffers which will in no way help you personally.

Good on you for mentioning this! I have seen it in action. Unfortunately Mendocino County government is especially predatory towards its own citizens….much like Humboldt. Do not blindly trust them with personal information and think that they “are here to help you”. You may be shocked and dismayed….It is predatory government like this that makes its citizens turn into an outlaw culture. I wish it was not so…

Yes. As we have just seen in the RV park’s road collapse and as I’ve seen others go through in the past as well. These funds will pay the county – not help the landowners and they will ream you in addition to not helping you.
This is probably the reason for an inflated cost to put a temporary bridge in at the RV park.. They wil get more back with this program than they will spend.
