Fire Burns Shed in Salmon Creek Early This Morning

Burning structure feature iconA small structure (10’x20′) burned to the ground in the 4700 block of Salmon Creek Road west of Miranda about 6:30 this morning.

“When we got there, the shed was pretty much on the ground,” Salmon Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dan Gribi told us.

The fire did some minor damage to other items on the property. “It melted some of the hydraulic lines on the nearby Bobcat,” Gribi explained.

Cal Fire Weott crew showed up first, according to Gribi. Then Miranda Volunteer Fire and Salmon Creek Fire showed up.

4700 block? Where is that Kym? On the ridge?
Bummer about the shed. Guessing though, this time of year, that the contents were much more valuable (or would have been a couple years ago).

Ohh. Duh. I had thought it said Thomas road. Thanks Kym. (Am guessing lots of new folk [in the last 20-30 years] don’t know where the bumper factor was. But we do ;).

My father went by the bumper factory many times driving the South Fork High School bus 18.

At that time the factory was owned by Casey Bowman.

That’s cool, Martin. Glad you have a foundation and good memories of the area.

Thanks Ben. Lived in Miranda for most of my life and have many fond memories of the area. One that stands out is crossing the old cable bridge that went over the Eel River to the old mill on the other side. Dad’s bus 18 made that bridge sway, pop and snap!
