Let’s hope this keeps up. We got a good 2 inches of rain here along the coast.

How is the rain flowing straight to the ocean negative? Did you think it went somewhere else?

So if the majority of coastal precipitation returns to the ocean immediately, how much rain do coastal communities really need to be out of a drought, crack me up. Maybe 1 inch a month, 12 inches max. Any more just returns to the ocean. Humboldt is in a drought , crack me up.

We live in the wettest region of California. We are getting lots of rain, but still less than has been recorded as an average year over the last 100 years We have records for. Do you not know how statistics work? Unclear on the definition of a drought? Just larping online?

The late ’90s and early 2000s were the wettest period since Euro Americans showed up. There’s archeological evidence of periods we would consider droughts lasting 70-90 years, during the last couple millennia. The last 200 years have been a little wetter than long term averages. The “drought” is mostly over-allocation of CA’s normal precipitation.

There’s more to Humboldt than just coast.

I think Lone Ranger is suggesting that we need not a few large storms, but rather consistent rainfall over the entire rainy season.

Please remember Forest Service land starts 5 miles up Titlow. The neighbors spend an inordinate amount of time rescuing, pulling out stuck vehicles, getting people back up very steep cliffs because they think it is public property. Have a great time in the snow, just please proceed to the safe areas to do it.
