Early Morning Assault on CR Student Reported

Assault Feature iconAn incident is unfolding at the College of the Redwoods this morning according to scanner traffic. An individual called 9-1-1 and reported to emergency personnel that a student was attacked around 8 a.m. on December 2, near the bus stop at the roundabout.

The male suspect in the attack initially was seen hiding behind the physical ed. building. The suspect then began attempting to burglar parked vehicles in a nearby parking lot. Citizens were able to box the suspect in with vehicles, possibly including security personnel from the college.

At this point, the suspect has been removed from a parked vehicle and is now sitting on a curb according to the reporting party. Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies are en route.

An ambulance has been requested. The reporting party stated the suspect is bleeding from the hand. The dispatcher states the suspect may be under the influence of drugs.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

Why the need for a costly ambulance for a bleed on the hand? It seems to make sense that someone take that person to the hospital. I guess hardly anyone knows how costly one of those calls are.

Since he committed a crime he can’t just be driven in any old car. Sheriff’s deputies aren’t EMTs, they can’t legally medically evaluate and treat someone the way EMTs can. “Bleeding from the hand” could mean a minor scrape or it could mean he cut himself on glass trying to punch through a car window.

What really happen was dirt bag asalted a cr student. Security tried to arrest dirt bag they were unable to do so.the bag then ran to the parking lot where construction is taking place, the bag then got into a construction workers truck.then locked the doors of truck. The bag then began searching inside the vehicle and located the keys,he then was attempting to start the vehicle ,at that point the owner of that vehicle, construction worker broke out his passenger window with a shovel, and then started beating the bag with the shovel, the pointed end of shovel lol then ripped the bag out of his truck and beat him a little more with shovel.didnt want the bag to have a chance of getting away.the Security people watched this Un fold I think they were scared. Any way that’s what really happen. The bag was bleeding from his face and his teeth were nocked out. Not his hand.

Why not take him to jail if he assaulted someone

California law forces LEO’s to take any injured perp to a hospital for medical clearance, before incarcerating them. It’s a waste of time and money when jails have medical staff…

Nah not really. It’s good that they do that. The liability being managed is saving the government millions of dollars. Medical staff at jails are inadequate, without the resources and again having people cleared by hospitals is a form of protection from expensive lawsuits.

The cognitive dissonance and the unwillingness to think outside of the box of “coddling criminals” is truly terrifying to me. So many people rallying for us to be a theocracy but when you point out the parallels with sharia law they get really upset and double down.

Yes, it’s a liability issue. I was working at SQ when the state bought tv’s for all the inmates. They stopped focusing on us so they could keep their tv.
Liberals never met an inmate they couldn’t coddle. Sharia law has a few good punishments…

Taking people to the hospital to be medically cleared is for SAFETY! Are you a heartless? It’s the job of the police to protect EVERYONE’S SAFETY! Just cuz a person has committed a crime doesn’t mean they stop being human! People like you are the reason so many people die unnecessarily in custody in this country!! The US locks up a fucking third of it’s population and we need a BETTER justice system, not a worse one!!

Dont want to die in custody? Dont punch out windows, assault people and break into vehicles. Its actually quite simple!

And so far the search for that “better justice system” has only given us a worse and more dangerous society. You are right when you say “just cuz a person has committed a crime doesn’t mean they stop being human”, but what is your answer when that human keeps committing the same crime and creating more victims. You remember victims right, they are the people (also humans) that are affected most by those crimes. The other two thirds of the population deserve better also.
