Looks to be cold even here along the coast, got a good frost this morning.
A good start to winter. It’s all about the snow pack.
Though as I recall, we got good snowfall last December then next to nothing.

That’s exactly right.

It came late December and went to rain then stopped.

This mentioned storm will be followed Saturday with another heavy dump of sorts…..It’s a great December start to snowpack.

There is a new ski lift and slope at Mt. Shasta for all you snowfolks, it will open mid December.

I’m impressed they got that lift built so quickly. Should make a top to bottom run worth the price of admission.

I have yet to see confirmation it’s complete. Would like to make sure before I head that way. No pictures. nothing on their twitter since last year. Nothing on the YouTube channel they told us to watch.
The trail map doesn’t show it. If it’s done somebody is horrible at marketing

That’s exactly right. No confirmation on actual opening of lift. I’m wondering about the get back route also, it’s a pretty flat stretch between the bottom of greys butte and the main park. I’m sure they’ve got it figured out. But I would call down to 5th season and see what they have to say.

Well it better be done because they are saying so on the website where I bought a season pass. If it’s not done I’m gonna demand a refund.

Buying a season pass at Shasta is always a gamble. I’m not sure they are saying greys buttes is going to be open, I read the fine print pretty carefully. It seems like it will be and it should be, but I don’t see it anywhere definitively on the webpage. I’d be more worried to see if it actually snows enough to get your moneys worth out of the pass. Either way- it’s cool to support Mt Shasta. They’ve had some tough years lately.

Never seen that before.

Definitely climate ignorance abound.

Look, it doesn’t matter what’s causing it. We are in drought conditions and have been for awhile.
Deny that! Crack me up

Yes since global warming could be easily disproved the narrative was altered to be climate change which is hard to deny. Prior to this it was global cooling.

I guess the main issue is really if it is anthropogenic (human caused) or a natural phenomenon. This point is still unproven in my opinion, but the climate justice warriors will say look at all the change since combustion engines! Despite lots of changes in pre-antiquity times. I’m still thinking that even if humans are at fault, we are part of the natural process like every other organism on the planet.

Besides, until bureaucrats and climate change fighting scientists and celebrities stop jet setting and owning sprawling mansions the whole argument seems like virtue signaling and a job/money making endeavor.

Yep your comment proves that we can justify anything to make ourselves feel ok about our actions. If you’re a skier/snowboarder (I’d guess snowboarder) you know how much different the snow is the last twenty years or so. Sure, we are just a part of the earth so we can’t have any responsibility. Right.

How is that proof of anthropogenic climate change? Just because somethings are different isn’t proof. Things always change. That’s why global warming got dropped.

Sure combustion engines are messy, but they have saved far more lives with reliable power for refrigeration, water/sewage pumps, HVAC, etc.

There would be no ski resorts without combustion power. From the lifts to the groomers to snow makers, even blowers clearing the road and parking lots. Yes I love combustible fuels and skiing all at the same time. Gotta to as there is no on site lodge and even the teslas in the parking lot are powered with grid energy from combustion sources.

That’s what climate does. Change. Cut the planet’s trees and fill the surface with people needing a heat source. Voila!
