This is an unequivocally good thing to do! Doesn’t change the fact that their mascot “blackmarketvikings” is one of the biggest purveyors of hate in our community. If you’re going to buy product on the black market, why would you buy it marked up at the dispensary?

I’m sorry Lisa, but, both my wife and I had to laugh at the headline wondering what the donation was. While we figured it obviously wasn’t anything for Betty to make into brownies and hand out, it was still entertaining to imagine.

Omg, you’re so hilarious, thoughtful and witty… who could possibly think of something so funny and positive. You really used your imagination & brain power for that one.

What are people supposed to do with the donated tents? Is there a designated safe place to camp? Or will they be confiscated by EPD & HCSO in the next sweep?

All donations are thoughtful, but tents? We have alot of folks living in tents, in unsanitary conditions, Garbage, human and animal waste, drug paraphernalia, etc. are polluting creeks, streams, grounds, killing plants and vegetation. Ask New Directions ( I think that’s the Organization) how many pounds of garbage they and volunteers pack out of greenbelts each month. 😔

Better you donate six-packs of beer and plenty of “shake”…

Giving a homeless person some warm clothes and a tent is laudable, but giving the homeless a place to camp with showers, washer/dryers, toilets and some security, along with regularly emptied dumpsters, would be great too…

Like someone else said, homeless comprise about 550,000 people in the entire population of 330,000,000, or about 0.02% of the population…

We assume that some will fall through the cracks, but those Cannabis Retailers need advertising and charitable donations too…

Seems to me like the horse is out of the barn, but thanks!

Might want to check that math.

EDIT: My apologies — I read it as the number of homeless in the County. It’s clear to me now after reading it again you mean in the State. My Bad.

I know it’s confusing:

The number of homeless in the US is estimated at 552,830. With around half a million individuals living in a state of homelessness, things are not looking great. Still, on the bright side, it is a small percentage compared to the overall US population — which counts over 327.2 million.

Honest, I don’t just make this shit up…

That’s fantastic! Just when one filthy, environmental disaster gets cleaned up here is the equipment for a brand new one!

DROP in the proverbial bucket! Here’s the problem with ill thought donations. Hey boys homeless could use some tents…yeah that sounds like a good idea let’s go ahead and get some donate them down at Betty Chin. As homeless populations have no way to keep things clean or organized. Most, living like that for years and years they become accustomed to piling of goods and items. Don’t have the internal mechanisms to respect the stuff that’s given that’s why the piles build up in all the homeless camps. If you actually dug through those piles at the homeless camps you would be shocked at the amount of clothing, bedding, tents, cooking gear strewn about. They don’t have the sense to keep any of it organized. Even after you move these populations into shelters, or housing projects they still clutter and pile. It takes a long time to break this cycle of “somebody will give me more and it doesn’t matter.” The thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars spent on assisting the homeless with gear that winds up in dumpsters. Gear isn’t the solution on the streets. You can’t pack it around ,the cops drag you off you go to jail Etc and all of your gear is wasted once again. It was a nice sentiment but a little short on the forthought.
