Supervisor Bohn, Commissioner Bongio ‘Displayed Out and Out Cronyism’: Letter to the Editor

Letter to the Editor

Congratulations, Supervisor Bohn and Commissioner Bongio.  I generally don’t get disgusted very easily.  But the team of the two of you have succeeded in getting me riled up.  The overt racism exhibited by Mr. Bongio (Supes Censure Embattled Planning Commission Chair, North Coast Journal, 9/22/2022) was bad enough.  The irony of Mr. Bohn refusing to remove him from the commission is not lost on us, given Mr. Bohn’s history of telling jokes about Mexican thievery.  Compounding matters, both men displayed out and out cronyism, first by Mr. Bongio towards the brazen actions of his developer buddy, then by Mr. Bohn, “I can’t fire my friend.  I’m sorry.”  I’m sorry also, Mr. Bohn, that you can’t muster the integrity to do your job with honor.  This entire boondoggle does nothing if not besmirch the reputation of the county, the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and those of both men.  It paints the county in the light of a banana republic.

Both men should be removed from their positions, if they can’t summon the integrity to own up to their outrageous behavior and remove themselves.

I agree completely. Bohn never has had a shred of integrity or decency. Thank you for pointing it out yet again.

The “Holy Trinity” of Humboldt:
Corruption
Nepotism
Incompetence

Also see:

Conflict of interest.

Rex Bohn is a shining example of bad government. He was originally elected after running unopposed!

Michelle Bushnell went to the “Rex Bohn School of Local Government”.

You could not find a less qualified or less competent gang of knuckleheads and thieves North of Lake County, which itself is operated by the “Gotcherback” system of corruption, such as you would find at Adventist Health or in a community of Dope Farmers…

You do it to yourselves, Humboltians…

I suppose you prefer covert racism over overt racism?
From what I’ve read, some people prefer overt(right wing racism) because at least it is clear and honest, and can be addressed as to wether it’s appropriate or not.
left wing racism on the other hand is torn between victim advocacy, shame culture, privilege and nimbyism, often asking the futures aggressors to come up with solutions to the mounting problems that they couldn’t address because of their submissive leftist politics.
“stateless”.., is that the left wings version of a sovereign citizen?

It's all about who calls the other to blame.

Who is Canyon oak? An expert in racism? Knowing he is a right wing conservative who’s only mission is to, without any facts, always paints the picture of it’s the liberals who are bad and the conservatives are right. How about I paint a similar picture. Trump is a right wing conservative who is a pathological liar. Would that make ALL right wing conservatives liars?

IMHO: Drive by the building site on the old Arcata Road. Take a look.

When you go north past Freshwater, drive past the slimy mud pit with hauled in stumps.
Look at the massive fish/birds/whatever (er… not)
Look at the massive gravel driveway (er… not).
Look at the huge invasive Himalayan blackberries (er… not).

Figure out what this is about. Like I said… go figure.

And just look at the size of the thing, standing out in the open, framed against the Bay in what had been a relatively natural perspective up till recently.

Wow. Susan it’s good to have somebody on board with me.
Let’s tear out that hideous casino on Table Bluff… really spoils the natural hillside. Then lets go after the hideous (and future) casino at Trinidad.
Then, of course, the concrete pier at Trinidad, it spoils the beauty of the bay… and then… Fernbridge ruins the lower Eel Valley… and then… Carson Mansion a big colonial structure and then…

We haven’t had a competent board of supervisors in 30 years. They’re smiling because you keep electing them and they keep grabbing the dough. If you want a better county, elect a better board of supervisors.

Maybe I should get on the commission because I have no problem firing people who get out of line and hold deep seeded racial and prejudicial views of their own constituents. These sort of views show you who someone is deep inside. Even if they’re my “friends.” Then again, I have actively kept folks like these two men out of my friend circle because they’re so typically just like they’ve demonstrated they are.

When Rex first ran for 1st District Supervisor there were two other candidates that ran against him: Annette Demodena (former chair of the Republican Party) and Cheryl Seidner (former chair of the Table Bluff Reservation of the Wiyot Tribe).
Rex ran unopposed in his second term. Third term Cliff Berkowitz (KHUM Radio) ran against him. The local Establishment put Rex into office.

…and the local Establishment expects to keep Rex in office. IMO it’s an alliance between established liberal pols and the local yuk-buddy crowd. The pols think it is easier to abandon just the one district out of five, and the others pay for his campaigns. Both pretend that Rex is their friend.

Great comment. They are also naive. As if their votes actually count! haha
But… voting makes people think they live in a free country. The great placebo.

Hello, Casual Reader. Just a note to say “this is a national campaign to discredit democracy”. Love to see their web histories.
Losers everywhere are trying to discourage the good guys from voting. The answer: Vote.

Not necessarily. If enough people vote, the good guys will win because the bad guys are outnumbered. Dissing the vote is for losers.

You maybe correct. But if we didn’t vote corrupt Republicans (some who are admitted pedophiles, i.e, Nathan Larson ) to threaten us and we could have a Fascist President ordering us thru marshal law what we have to be doing. Might really happen if Trump is reelected.

Does anyone know the outcome of the rolling meadows ranch 8.5 acre grow that Trevor Bohn was able to get streamlined through his father? 10% for the big guy?

I have been following that court case and did a couple of posts on my blog. Right now, there are just case management conferences being scheduled. If there is a significant development, I will do an update.

Who benefits from cutting off Russia natural gas revenue because that’s the most likely saboteur of the Nord Stream pipeline that’s leaked more methane affecting climate change than US pricey efforts will save in a decade, will freeze out Europe this winter causing economic devastation, while simultaneously risking worldwide nuclear holocaust?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken: “And ultimately this is also a tremendous opportunity. It’s a tremendous opportunity to once and for all remove the dependence on Russian energy, and thus to take away from Vladimir Putin the weaponization of energy as a means of advancing his imperial designs.”
Joe Biden did that!
