Humboldt and Del Norte Counties Central Labor CouncilI am proud to announce that I have received the endorsement of the Humboldt and Del Norte Counties Central Labor Council. My family benefited from my father having a secure union job with fair wages and benefits and I am a lifelong union supporter. Unions represent the interests of working people and families. I am excited to see the resurgence in union organizing in the United States as a proven way for workers to receive their fair share of their hard work. My goal is to serve you, the ratepayers,  who live in the Humboldt Community Services District because you are the working families and neighbors who make this community a great place to live.

Unions are hotbeds of organized crime.

Mafia-controlled Unions brought you a Billionaire President, himself a massive crook…

Unions are for people with no negotiation power and few saleable skills…

Unions, are bullshit.

Look, another group looking ride on a hard working taxpayers back. Your like a broker for work, more ridiculousness. I love getting outrageous medical insurance and a stupid premium and love busting my butt while the guy next to me coasts making the same wage .

This is a link about Union Busting.
usehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_busting

It is an illegal practice that companies use to keep profit for the shareholders instead of the people doing the actual work.

Since always – but especially the late 70’s/early 80’s the wealthy have been using tactics to undermine and weaken unions. Interesting fact: minimum wage had the most buying power when unions were the strongest in this country ( minimum wage in 1969 was the equivalent of $25/hour today).

Please don’t blame corporate tactics and the voting decisions of Congress on Labor Unions. All workers deserve a living wage and affordable health insurance ( an industry deregulated in the 1980’s under the Reagan administration) and safe working conditions – Airlines and many other industries deregulated in the 1980’s.

Thoughtfully, Julie

The unions of today are a FAR cry from the unions of even 30 years ago.

The wealthy can’t buy labor in sufficient quantities, in certain industries.

Today we are in a labor market where never before seen concepts, like “sign-on bonuses” and wage offer competition is heating up furiously.

Labor Unions are a flawed concept, and the advantages have become fewer, while the negotiations have become worth less and less, after the negotiations have dragged on and on.

Fact is, if you need a union to negotiate with your employer, your employer isn’t competitive, and, will lose its workforce to employers who have abandoned traditional workplace paradigms.

I don’t want to reveal my entire concept in a blog comment.

Suffice it to say that Unions are corrupt, outdated, and ineffective.

Unions take your money but they often don’t make you any!

Unions suck, and need to be done away with in favor of employees who can negotiate the sale of their services themselves…

No respect for the pushing of unions here…

Here’s hoping Julie Ryan is a winner. Pro-union politicians are the only ones worth voting for. And Julie, in case you come across this comment, feel free to disregard the criticism from the conservative pro-billionaire boneheads that litter this site with their White supremacist trash and full-blown fascist ignorance. I would almost feel sorry for these clueless QAnon numbskulls, if it weren’t for the fact that their pathetic party’s impending political demise on November 8th is their own making. We the people will have the final say, not the incompetent pollsters who almost always assume the upcoming electorate will be the same as the last, which of course couldn’t be further from the truth in this general election. The voter registration numbers this year (especially after the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court committed hari kari on behalf of the GOP) tell the story – a much younger electorate on average will be voting along with perhaps up to 20 million more women than men will be voting nationally on this November 8th. And as a result the Democrats will still be in the majority in both the House and Senate come 2023.
