Hopefully this solo driver learned a lesson on how to drive a vehicle!
I’m thrilled they didn’t take out an innocent traveler.

Did you go help? Didn’t see any witnesses at the scene, nor did the CHP. Tires were not bald, but the car had brand new coil overs installed in the rear. Probably needed an alignment, and the roads were wet with the first rain.

Thank you so much for your help!! I appreciate it it so much! I’ve talked to my son about your involvement and I just didn’t equate person walking in the woods with person in a car he flagged down for help. Thank you for going to the fire dept. and thank you for all you did to help him and his friends

This solo vehicle driven by a young driver slid out in the rain at normal speed. Thanks for your concern. Luckily everyone is ok.

We live less 12 miles from where he crashed. Once he flagged down a car for help and found his phone he called me so I was at the scene. His tires were not bald but there were redwood needles all over the road in that corner. It was the first rain. Accidents happen in the first rain. At least everyone is ok. His car can be replaced, but he and his friends can’t.

Most accidents and fatalities occur very close to where someone lives. You can look up the statistics it’s actually pretty shocking. And when it’s wet and raining you got to slow down even if the speed limit does say 30 etc go down to 15. There’s no crime in being safe. Adjust your driving to the conditions of the road is one of the first things that must be considered. Even a speed limit is not adhered to if the conditions of the road do not allow it . Moving forward…Mom hopefully he will learn and not make that mistake again.

Sorry the saying “just sayin” has no class to it. Suggestions. Sharing information and encouraging others to stay safe…sure that is a “Karen”. I would imagine most of the people crying about the Karens are people who really don’t give a s*** about anything. They can even run over their own dogs, or their own kids or wives but if you call them on it you’re a Karen! God fobid you give a suggeztion of something safer or better.
Total disrespect for anything or anyone. What is that called? Oh yeah…
An asshole? Just sayin’…

The lesson to be learned is what it’s like to drive on wet pavement from the first rains, plus driving on redwood needles…

I was 19 when I learned my first rain lesson.
I just stay off the road. It’s truly the best way to stay safe in the first rain.

The other lesson to be learned is…

Don’t brake into the turn…

He’s 19. And yes he’s learned a valuable lesson about driving in the first rain, or any rain in general and about how dangerous the Ave can be. He also lost his only mode of transportation for commuting to college and to work so he’s struggling with all of it now.
