Today, with a Red Flag warning over the area, the Mountain Fire, burning west of Weed which had appeared close to wrap up, jumped containment lines and threw itself eastward. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department issued new evacuation orders about 5 p.m. forcing more residents to flee.

According to Cal Fire,

Firefighters are making an aggressive attack, including aircraft, on a 232-acre spot fire across the primary control line near the East edge of the fire. Windy and dry conditions have increased fire activity and uphill runs have been observed.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 8PM for high wind gusts and low relative humidity.
