Press release from the Humboldt Progressive Democrats:Humboldt Progressive Democrats

Humboldt Progressive Democrats endorsed several local candidates at our endorsement meeting August 31st. Using a virtual remote meeting platform, each candidate spoke to members about their vision and platform and answered question from members. Topics ranged from election integrity to police oversight to affordable housing.

Members voted to endorse the following candidates in the November 8th General Election

    • Arcata City Council: Kimberley White and Meredith Matthews
    • Eureka City Mayor: Kim Bergel
    • Eureka City Council, Third Ward: Mario Fernandez
    • Humboldt County Clerk/Recorder, Registrar of Voters: Juan Pablo Cervantes

The November election will be critical at both a national and local level. Election integrity and working class values are on the ballot as well as democracy itself. We are fortunate to have in our community such a wealth of experience, knowledge, and caring as displayed by our endorsed candidates.”

Thank you for posting a list of people NOT to vote for!

Let’s look at what the progressive democrats have brought to us recently…

– A return of segregation. Segregated dorm rooms, graduations, study halls, etc. That is real progressive.

– The overt sexualization of children participating in drag shows

– The destruction of Title 9 and women’s sports by allowing biological men to dominate the women.

– Naked men can now freely roam in your daughter’s locker room.

– A massive increase in crime and criminals running the streets due to no bail laws, defunding the police and DA’s who won’t prosecute crime.

– Rampant homelessness and drug use taking over our neighborhoods.

– Drastically increased energy costs due to the religious like adherence to green energy, which is neither green, nor viable as a replacement for fossil fuels. Hey, we can soon be like Switzerland where they passed a law with fines, and even possible jail time, if you heat your home above 66 degrees this winter.

If this all sound just grand to you, then by all means, vote for the progressive democrats.

“Naked men can now freely roam in your daughter’s locker room.“

Making blatantly, laughably false statements like that undermines every other thing you say.

Naked men, who believe or just claim to identify as women, are allowed to use the women’s locker rooms, including the showers, at an ever increasing number of gyms and schools throughout the country. Washington even has a law forcing gyms to allow biological men to undress in the locker room of their choice.

Laughably false? I don’t think so!

Thank you for trying. Here is what I see that has been the slow road to destruction. Go to the Bayshore Mall and see how the policies have helped us. More than half the stores are closed. Probably won’t have it much longer. Why can’t the amount of population in our area support 2 malls? 2 large stores at Eureka Mall haven’t been filled in years . Yeah I know, but buy local. Only problem the the policies are very hostile to local businesses making it. The state pension debt is out of control and just wait until the grid goes down while the cart is put before the horse on energy. We will see if food shortages start to occur in the not to distant future based on these wonderful policies and it sounds like health care will be free until nothing is covered because you can’t provide all the services to all the people who need it for free. Take a ride from Target to Lithia and see how awesome the policies have been. Sad. Also, losing so many students here. Schools should be laying off administration k-12, but bet it’s not happening and then there is the other industries, legal grows that were deceived and tourist industry that has tanked due to the gas pipelines stopped on day one. We love our new gas prices that rose big time since then right? But let’s not acknowledge any of these facts.

As opposed to the fundy way of thought; there’s more than a couple of genders. And considering all adult persons as child sex predators is awry. The vast majority of child sex predators in prison are heterosexual men. And I don’t know of any school that allows any adults regardless of gender identity to use children’s school locker rooms.

Pssst… think Women’s College Swimming. It’s not a false statement at all.

Oh, and Women’s prisons nationwide? Inmates becoming pregnant from other “women” inmates? How is that possible?

Huey, you could buy a little credibility by including even a teensy bit of truth in amongst the talking points. Examples, brought to you recently by Democrats, including the Progressive wing:

Signed the Inflation Reduction Act President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act to bring down costs, reduce the deficit, and take aggressive action on climate – all paid for by making sure the largest corporations and billionaire tax cheats finally pay their fair share in taxes.
This historic legislation lowers health care costs for millions of families and allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices for the first time. The Inflation Reduction Act caps seniors’ out-of-pocket spending for prescription drugs at $2,000 per year and ensures no senior on Medicare will pay over $35 per month for insulin. Under the law, 13 million Americans, covered under the Affordable Care Act, will see their health insurance premiums reduced by $800.
The Inflation Reduction Act also takes aggressive action to combat the existential crisis of climate change. These historic clean energy investments will help families save hundreds of dollars every year on their energy bills while strengthening our energy security, creating jobs, and getting us closer to meeting our climate goals.
All of this is paid for by establishing a minimum corporate tax to ensure that the wealthiest corporations finally start to pay their fair share, and cracking down on billionaire tax cheats – without increasing audit rates or raising taxes on those making under $400,000 a year by one cent. President Biden promised to make the government work for working families again and that’s exactly what this law does.
Improved health care for veterans President Biden has long said that it is our sacred obligation to prepare and equip those we send to war and to take care of them and their families when they come home.
As president, he has worked to ensure we make good on this sacred obligation and has signed multiple bipartisan bills to honor and improve care for veterans.
In his first State of the Union address, President Biden called on Congress to pass legislation to make sure veterans impacted by toxic exposures and their families get the comprehensive care and benefits they earned and deserve. In August of 2022, President Biden signed the PACT Act – the largest single bill to address our service members’ exposure to burn pits and other toxins in American history.
Signed the CHIPS and Science ActPresident Biden signed landmark legislation into law that will accelerate semiconductor manufacturing in the United States. The CHIPS and Science Act will help lower the cost of everyday goods, strengthen American manufacturing and innovation, create good-paying jobs, and bolster our national security.
The CHIPS and Science Act will help us compete with China by bringing manufacturing jobs back to America. The law makes historic investments in research and development to accelerate the industries of the future and advance U.S. technological leadership.
Thanks to President Biden’s Made In America strategy, the United States has created hundreds of thousands of new manufacturing jobs and businesses are investing in new manufacturing lines across the country. The CHIPS and Science Act makes smart investments in manufacturing and research to build on this historic progress and set America up to win the economic competition for the 21st century.
Took historic action to address the gun violence epidemic President Biden brought together Democrats and Republicans to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, breaking a 30-year streak of federal inaction on gun violence legislation. The legislation took important steps, including requiring people under 21 to undergo enhanced background checks, closing the “boyfriend loophole,” and providing funding to address youth mental health.
President Biden has moved decisively to combat gun violence – issuing dozens of executive orders and signing the most significant gun violence reduction legislation to pass Congress in 30 years.
President Biden has launched a whole-of-government approach to make our communities safer and issued more executive orders to reduce gun violence in his first year than any other President at the same point in their administration. In July of 2022, Steve Dettelbach, President Biden’s nominee for director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, became the first Senate-confirmed director of the agency in more than 7 years.
Early on in his administration, President Biden took on the gun lobby to rein in the proliferation of ghost guns. The Biden administration acted to ban the manufacture of ghost gun kits and make it illegal to sell ghost guns without a background check.
Restored American leadership on the world stageUnder the previous administration, confidence in U.S. leadership around the world plummeted to historic lows. Since taking office, President Biden has worked to revitalize our alliances and restore America’s position of leadership on the global stage.
When Russia launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, President Biden rallied our allies across the globe to ensure Vladimir Putin pays a steep economic price for his unjustified war of aggression.
Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, international confidence in the United States has sharply increased. America is back, and our alliances are stronger than ever.
Ended America’s longest war After more than 20 years of conflict spanning three previous administrations, President Biden acted decisively to bring our troops home from Afghanistan. Resolute in his commitment not to send another generation of America’s daughters and sons to fight in Afghanistan, President Biden ended our nation’s longest war.
President Biden promised that we’d continue to conduct effective counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan without American troops on the ground. In August of 2022, the United States successfully carried out an airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was a key architect behind the 9/11 attacks and Osama bin Laden’s successor as head of Al Qaeda.
In acting to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan, President Biden ended an era of major military operations to remake other countries and refocused our national security efforts on the threats of today – not the threats of 2001.
Took action to address gender-based violence In 1994, then-Senator Biden authored the Violence Against Women Act which provided legal protection against domestic violence and sexual assault for 28 years until it was allowed to expire under the Trump administration.
As President, Joe Biden broke through two years of Republican obstruction and signed legislation in March 2022 to reauthorize and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act.
Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, the Violence Against Women Act is now reauthorized through 2027 and includes new provisions to expand legal services for survivors and support underserved communities.
President Biden also signed historic legislation ending forced arbitration of sexual assault and sexual harassment, protecting survivors and making it safer to report harassment in the workplace.
Passed the American Rescue Plan President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act into law, an unprecedented $1.9 trillion package that helped combat COVID-19 and supercharge a historic economic recovery.
The American Rescue Plan:
Helped get over 500 million shots in arms, distribute millions of therapeutics, and dramatically expand testing capabilities. Over two-thirds of Americans are vaccinated against COVID-19 thanks to the American Rescue Plan.
Delivered needed relief to families by sending over 160 million checks to Americans, expanding food and rental assistance, and providing aid to thousands of small businesses. The expanded Child Tax Credit led to the largest-ever one-year decrease in childhood poverty in American history.
Safely reopened America’s schools and made a historic investment to tackle learning loss and address mental health. Today, over 99% of schools are open for in-person learning. Before the ARP, only 46% of schools were open in-person.

I would love to tear apart your sad diatribe point by point, but I haven’t the time this morning, so I must keep it brief.

The Inflation Act is more likely to increase inflation than decrease it. It is more of a massive green energy slush fund than anything else.

The gun control legislation will do absolutely nothing to decrease gun violence. Just as the 1994 ban had no effect on gun crime.

I am flabbergasted that you included Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan as a positive! LOL!

Yeah, I guess he did pull off a successful drone strike, but isn’t that kind of outweighed by Biden’s other drone strike in Kabul where he killed 10 innocent civilians including 7 children?

Most of us are too smart to fall for your talking point, but nice try.

Have a nice day, I’m off on a hike!

Don’t forget the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) left in place the tax loophole allowing hedge fund managers to carry over income so they can be taxed at the capital gains rate (lower) instead of the earned income rate (higher), something that senators Warren and Sanders, so called progressives, have rallied against for years (they voted to allow it to stay in).
It’s always something good in a bill with more bad in it for the “elites”; the rich people running this country, which is what I have a problem with.
The chip part is more give away to China, as most chips (talking computer chips here, not potato) are made by Taiwan Semiconductor, and will be sucked up by China when they invade Taiwan and our leader sits back and watches.

Well, you could join the group that is fighting to get that removed from the IRA. And your comment on chips is all the more reason to move more of the manufacturing to the US and take it out of Taiwanese and Chinese hands. We have so many idiots in this country that believe in trickle down economics, the Reagan legacy. It was BS then and it’s BS now. The only thing that trickles down from the rich is yellow and smelly. The rich run the country and will until we get rid of most of the Republicans and their desire to lie, cheat and steal from the government, which means us, they will continue to run the country. Vote them out.

Great summary of accomplishments under Biden. People will still trash you because they are continuing as idiots on parade. They are good at that but don’t ask them to do the hard work which you just did. All they have is complaints and guesses but they are dumb as rocks when it comes to real thought.

Put the below in the disinformation from the CDPH yesterday, but it’s more relevant here:

Sleepy Joe called Brian May today and sent his condolences… “So sorry to hear your band has died, I really liked your music.”

Brian May responds, “No, you old sot, our Queen has died!”

Joe asks, “Well, who will be Queen now?”

Brian May said, “The Prince shall assume the throne.”

Joe says, “But I know he died and I was really a big fan of his music, too! Why, just a few summers ago fans destroyed his hometown of Minneapolis because they were so upset he had died.”

Enjoy! Off to the Richest City on Earth for the day!

I think I want to pay less taxes so politicians don’t get rich laundering our tax dollars to their pet projects.

So, hey, Thinker…

Where is the money from the bulk of the aid to Ukraine? Why would Congress be so eager to send 10’s of billions of dollars to a country that is known as one of the most corrupt in the world and one of their oligarchs hired a coke head, Vice President’s son with no experience whatsoever?

Why would one “think” that it is the rest of the population’s responsibility and monetary obligation to prop up the lazy and useless in our country who do nothing but sponge off those that will do so they can continue to do not? Are these mouth breathers just emulating the politicians they vote for? Believing they can get rich by doing and producing nothing?
