[UPDATE 12:54 p.m.: Some Background from HCSO] Hydesville Law Enforcement Action
Announcements are being made to the subject over a Public Address system telling him to come out and a K-9 was brought to the scene.
According to local resident, Stacy Schmidt, “I just called sheriff and they said it is a barricaded individual and to stay indoors.”
About 11:15 a.m., an officer requesting medical stage for the subject in the attic “who isn’t intending to comply.”
Then medical was requested to stage for a person with pepperball exposure.
By 11:17 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s law enforcement officer asked dispatch to contact Fortuna Fire Department and have them respond with cutting equipment for the attic.
UPDATE 11:32 a.m.: A resident tells us, “They have 36 closed off from Rhonerville to A street.”UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: “The subject is exiting the attic,” law enforcement tells emergency dispatch over the scanner.
UPDATE 11:46 a.m.: Fortuna Fire Department has been cleared to enter the building. A suspect appears to be in custody.
UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: One person is in custody and an ambulance has arrived on scene.
UPDATE 12:54 p.m.: Samantha Karges from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department said she didn’t believe there had been a shelter in place but she gave us more information.
“However, I can tell you that at about 10 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies received information that a man wanted on domestic violence charges was possibly barricaded in a residence on the 3300 block of Highway 36 in Hydesville,” said Karges. “The suspect was taken into custody after approximately one hour. I should have some more info out later today.”

He’ll undoubtedly need more than pepperball medical help after the K9 gets to him. Too bad he won’t come down on his own.
