Three Men Arrested for Transporting Marijuana

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Mendocino County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) feature

On 08-12-2022 at about 9:05 PM the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen advising there were six (6) Hispanics males walking on Bell Springs Road carrying rifles and wearing camouflaged clothing.

Deputies began responding and contacted the reporting party for more information.

Deputies were advised there were possibly two vehicles involved which were approximately three (3) miles up Bell Springs Road from Highway 101. The vehicles were described as being silver in color and were possibly Honda Civics.

Deputies were told there had been unreported armed home invasions last year in the same area and it was possible the subjects came back again this year.

Due to the nature of the call, the California Highway Patrol and Fish and Wildlife responded to assist Deputies.

Deputies arrived in the area and came across a 2002 silver Honda Accord with Washington plates.  This vehicle was occupied by three (3) Hispanic male adults.

The males were detained and identified as being Eirberto Casillas-Garcia, Ricardo Casillas-Garcia and Manuel Madrigal-Reyna all from Fresno, California.

The vehicle did not contain any firearms or weapons but had a strong odor of marijuana coming from it.  Deputies located approximately 10 pounds of bud marijuana, packaged in one pound bags.

Deputies learned the adult males traveled to Bell Springs Road together, purchased the marijuana from an unknown location, and planned to sell it for a profit.

All the adult males were arrested for transportation of marijuana for sale (11360 HS) and Conspiracy (182 PC).  They were booked into the Mendocino County Jail where they were each to be held in lieu of $20,000.00 bail.

Deputies further located an unoccupied 2015 silver Honda Civic approximately .3 miles from the Honda Accord. The vehicle appeared to have been at the location for sometime and uninvolved.

Suspect(s):
Eriberto Casillas-Garcia  (23-year-old from Fresno, CA)

Ricardo Casillas-Garcia  (22-year-old from Fresno, CA)

Manuel Madrigal-Reyna  (31-year-old from Fresno, CA)

Sounds like there is a bit of missing info here. I’m betting the caller isn’t telling the entire story and neither is the sheriff. Don’t believe everything you think and hear

Law enforcement never tells the entire story until trial.
This is standard operating procedure and is done for obvious reasons…especially when conspiracy is involved.

Well…if indeed they had bought the weed then they should be celebrated. Anybody still bringing money into our county for weed should be praised and thanked. There should be a county incentive program where they each get a free tank of gas or something…

When the “buyers” have automatic weapons and walk in its a bit of an issue. They are lucky the police found them first.

Likely they were semi-auto weapons, but that is cold comfort. Full-auto would really jam them up jelly tight with the law. You are correct, it is lucky the cops got them first. I always advocate non-violence as a first, second and third option. A fourth non-recommended option would consign the perps to Humboldt Community Composting or High Tide Mortuary Services.

I know… Gosh-darn that fiendish Marijuana for destroying our youth and for making them explore the back-country in little cars…

Bell Springs Cow-Path is actually a good place to learn about Northern Mendocino and Humboldt, but the locals will disrespect you and run you off the road…

For everyone else, don’t go out there unless you have a Tundra, and make it dirty first, or they’ll all get on their scanners and radio the militia…

This is why you should drive 70 mph an ignore the speed limit. Only crooks an grandmas drive the speed limit. When transporting contra band the number 1 rule is drive like you stole it so you do not stand out on the free way. You will never see me in the slow lane just for this reason. Are law enforcement will not have reason too stop me.

Arrested for “transporting”? They hadn’t even left yet…where did they transport it to? Arrested for something that hadn’t even occurred.

Looks like adding the “conspiracy” charge is how LE gets away from the misdemeanor statute?
