Jesus tapdancing Christ. How many fatal motorcycle wrecks are we going to have this summer? People in cars, please be aware of folks on motorcycles. People on bikes, please don’t travel too fast for conditions or get impaired and ride. Let’s all get back to our loved ones! RIP rider.

Motorcycle accidents don’t always happen because the cycle was “going too fast,” or was “impaired.” Maybe the car was speeding or its driver was dui. Your bias is showing.

They sure don’t. I didn’t say that at all. Safe traveling is dependent upon all participants. How’s that view from up on your high horse? Do your farts smell better up there?

No matter who was at fault my heart goes out to the motorcyclist. Condolences to their family and friends. The driver of the white vehicle, their fault or not will have a long-lasting memory of that moment in time. Bikers and vehicle drivers please watch out for one another on the road. We have had too many motorcycle accidents lately.

Is speculation, but based on the pic showing location of the car and the damage to it…I’m guessing the car did not allow the bike to enter lane 1 of the highway…unless they actually collided on the SB on ramp itself.

Either way…very sad and avoidable.

I think your speculation may be close, but… I speculate that, since the #1 lane has the #2 lane separating it from the ramps, and the off ramp generally occurs before the on ramp, the cager, er, uh, car driver, realized too late that they needed to take the off ramp, cranked the wheel hard to make the exit, and hit the motorcycle. I am completely speculating, I admit. But the scenario is not far fetched. I have narrowly avoided several such collisions. My brother avoided many also, well, all but one. He lived, but, his bike, protective gear and a collar bone all needed major repair.

My sympathies to the family and friends of the rider in this article, and also to the driver who, regardless of fault, has to live with this their entire life.

Please, everyone, regardless of wheel count, keep your head on a swivel. It may be someone you know that dies, or, someone you know that is forced to live with your death.
