[UPDATE 7:57 p.m.: Three Patients] Two Vehicle Collision Near Leggett—One Trapped, Another with Significant Injuries

Major InjuriesScanner traffic beginning around 7:15 p.m. indicates a two-vehicle traffic accident on Highway 101 near Leggett has resulted in multiple injuries and possible amputation.

The Incident Commander reports one vehicle is off of the road on its top and one vehicle came to rest in the roadway blocking both lanes. In the overturned vehicle, there is reportedly one patient requiring extrication and a minor female with a partial amputation to the right leg.

The exact location of the incident was described at mile marker 95.7.

Two air ambulances and ground ambulances have been dispatched to the incident. The air ambulances will be landing near the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 101.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported both all patients have been extricated from the vehicle and they are working on “packaging” them for transport.

UPDATE 7:54 p.m.: Traffic north of Leggett in the Riverdale area is at a standstill.

UPDATE 7:57 p.m.: Reach is headed to Redding with one patient. Another patient is being taken by ground ambulance and a third patient is still being prepared for transport.

UPDATE 10:19 p.m.:  The below video and photos are from local resident Renee Selix who was stuck in traffic after the horrific incident that left a young girl and two adults badly injured.

“Packaging” them for transport? Hoping for good results for everyone involved.

Packing them means being strapped down on the backboard to prepare for transport… neck braces on and IVs started to deliver meds .

My daughter is at Standish hickey. Both helicopters have left and one fire truck has passed her going back south.

Second helicopter landed at 8:30 and took off about ten minutes later. Traffic reopened at 8:54.

Just came from there, must have arrived 5 min after it happened. I saw the scene, but I didn’t get close enough to see it clearly, the screams were haunting. I hope shes OK. Accident happened at a pretty tight turn after a straightaway, but luckily nobody went off the cliff. It was backed up to within almost a mile or two to Legget when I left. Drive safe.

My prayers for the injured people in that nasty crash. Thank you to all the first responders and the Medical helicopter people. I sure hope everyone will heal quickly and be fine.
