[Update: Good News] Vegetation Fire Near the Palmer Exit Along Highway 101
Passing motorists along Highway 101 are reporting a vegetation fire near the Palmer Boulevard exit just north of Fortuna.
The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. on August 9th.
Scanner traffic indicates the fire is spreading towards the freeway and a power pole.
The first fire personnel on scene reduced the response to code 4 (Proceed without lights or siren.) Although Fortuna Fire is requesting an agency assist from Loleta Fire with a Type-1 fire engine.
Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.
Update 3:06 p.m.: Fortuna Fire is now requesting a full response for a 30 x 30 vegetation fire that now includes a semi-truck also on fire.
Update 4:02 p.m.: Units are being released from the Palmer incident which usually means that the fire is contained.

Code 4 does not mean continue without lights and siren. Code 4 means under control, no further assistance needed.
So. Either someone mis spoke or you were mis informed as to its meaning. Just fyi. Oh and before you question my knowledge of the meaning, I’m retired from law enforcement after 30 years. Just sayin
No questioning of your knowledge. I’ll print the codes from HCSO as they seem to be the ones used for most agencies here, if not all. I wrongly assumed I could look up the code definition online. I was also under the impression if was under control but no resources were cancelled so I trusted the internet.
