[UPDATE 9:39 p.m.] One Structure Threatened After Gold Fire Starts North of Blocksburg
About 2:45 p.m., a new fire report came into firefighters of start in the 36,400 block of Alderpoint Road. The Gold Fire, as it is called, is five acres in size with a moderate rate of spread, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jeremy Ward.
Ward told us that one structure is threatened and an additional helicopter is requested along with one already on sight.
The first report said that a lawnmower on fire was spreading to vegetation. However, that has not been confirmed.
UPDATE 3:18 p.m.: Another water tender was requested.
UPDATE 5 p.m.: Nearly all the smoke has dissipated.
UPDATE 9:39 p.m.: The fire was stopped at less than 10 acres. No structures damaged.

Unconfirmed unofficial civilian report from a Facebook member on Alderpoint Road that forward progress has been stopped at 10 acres 10 minutes ago…
Again, that is unconfirmed, and unofficial…
For what it’s worth…

Thanks Guest. I sure hope you are right.
Your welcome, but Kym deserves all the thanks…
And that photo credit should probably be also credited via Facebook.
I took a photo of another phones Facebook link…
I would have to assume it is also a Cal Fire Photo, but that is just a hunch…
A real Boy Scout that Guest, being so helpful.
It is very nice when people are helpful for whatever reason!
I was just looking at Flightradar for another reason and saw those two planes circling, checked it out. US Forestry Svc so I figured there must be another fire. Thanks for confirming! Hope they get it out quickly.
Another CalFire plane is on its way…!
It’s there! Go get em boys…
I sure hope that Cal Fire can put that out fairly quickly. Two helicopters, one on the fire and another is on the way along with a water tender. I pray that equipment is all that is needed.
Please be safe firefighters!
Flaming Lawnmower ! That’s a good one… and maybe a great name for a country band.
Turn at the flaming’ mailbox.
I am the property owner! The fire, just under 10 acres, is pretty much out with mop up crews finishing up. They will follow up for 3 days. No structures were damaged, nobody was hurt! I lost my new , expensive, riding lawnmower, which caused the fire. A 5500 gal water tank and 2″ water line melted so my water supply ran out. Fortunately had another water source to hook into.
Thank you to all my neighbors who rallied to help and 5 fire departments and Calfire. Definitely gives me renewed faith in humankind. I dodged a bullet for sure!
Penny, thank you for letting us know. I’m glad you are okay and that you’ve got good backup from your community.
Using a mower this time of year is down right dangerous. What in the world were you thinking.
We’re you mowing in the heat of the day? Did you have a small fire extinguisher mounted to your mower? Just wondering.
Did the mower cause the fire or did the operator of the mower cause the fire?
Flow Kana didn’t make out so well. Glad you’re OK.
