Press release from Six Rivers National Forest:

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is comprised of eight active wildfires burning in steep, rugged terrain. With an increase in extreme fire behavior today, firefighting resources are prioritizing their efforts to protect threatened structures, crucial infrastructure, and important wildlife habitat. The total size has grown to 1,101 acres with zero containment.

Evacuations orders are in place in Humboldt County for zones HUM-E077-C, HUM-E058 and HUM-E061, south and east of Willow Creek. Trinity County Evacuation orders are in place for Salyer Heights, Salyer Loop to the bridge at 299 and Campbell Ridge Road. Evacuation zones can be found at community.zonehaven.com. [Or, for Trinity County at https://www.trinitycounty.org/OES] An evacuation center has been established at Trinity Valley Elementary School, located at 730 Highway 96, Willow Creek. For more information and up-to-date evacuation information go to humboldtsheriff.org/emergency, or Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services or Trinity County Office of Emergency Services.

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is a very active emerging incident. Evacuation orders and warnings frequently change. For your own safety, please adhere to all evacuation notices, and be ready to leave immediately should the situation worsen.

Due to the management complexity of these fires, Type 2 Incident Management Team 11, led by Incident Commander Christopher Fogle, will assume command of the Six Rivers Lightning Complex on August 7th at 6:00pm. This will allow for additional ground and aerial firefighting resources to be deployed to this emerging incident.

Kym, you are indispensable in these situations when you are the one in the shit! You earned way beyond the $200 I could send after last summer!

Please donate before you need it and find it isn’t funded when you do…

Is anyone else having problems with that zonehaven site. When I go there it has an overlay telling you how to search that covers the search box with no apparent way to close it. I wish they would use a map that still had the identifiers intact instead of all being removed.
