Suspicious Device Located by Community Member Is a Modified Illegal Firework, Says HCSO

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Explosive deviceOn June 27, 2022, at about 8:39 p.m., a community member contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Emergency Communications Center to report a suspicious device discovered near the roadside on the 2100 block of Arbutus Street in the Cutten area.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team was dispatched to investigate. During this time, local residents were advised to stay indoors while deputies investigated.

Utilizing an EOD robot, deputies determined the suspicious object to be a large modified illegal firework. The device was retrieved, safely transported to a remote area and rendered safe.

There is no perceived threat to the public at this time.

With the Fourth of July approaching, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community that the only fireworks legal to use in California are those approved by the Office of the California State Fire Marshal, known as “Safe and Sane” fireworks. Please do not attempt to alter any firework device or attempt to make your own.

If you see something suspicious or out of place in your neighborhood, do not touch or move it, but contact your local law enforcement. To report the use or possession of illegal fireworks, please use the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line at (707) 445-7251. Only utilize 9-1-1 to report fire, injuries or other emergencies.

That firework was meant to be fired from a mortar and detonate hundreds of feet above the ground. Had it ignited it would have started an uncontrollable fire that would have devastated the community.
And just for the record: During this historic drought there is no such thing as a safe or sane firework.

An explosive device should have buttons, wires and a count down clock.
Someone needed to light this thing.
It’s a firework.

Pre 9/11 a firework was a firework and a cop would have just taken it home or put it in a bucket of water.

Post 9/11 Police departments need a certain amount of “fireworks” to maintain funding for said expensive robot.

That’s what I was also thinking…

Put water on it, with a hose or something…

And then put it in water, like in a bucket of water…

It’s also hard to tell scale…

Is it 2″ across?

Or 3″ or 4″ across???

I would agree that it definitely has an explosive potential…

Thanks for rendering it safe.

I agree. Let’s move on. The pitbulls listed for adoption here are far more dangerous. You can send this to me if you wish me to dispose of this (in the sky). Remember folks, P.G. & E. does more damage than these. And doesn’t charge the public more for covering their bankruptcy…

China is behind this. I see their encrypted code on the label.

A Kovid Karen or Kovid Ken Kalled this one in. What a P$&@y!!!! Yea these can be incredibly dangerous. You have a better chance being struck by lightning, twice, standing in the same place….. Or being severely burned from the explosive lithium ion battery in your smart phone…. Than this cute little ball of entertainment spontaneously combusting and starting a F$&@ing fire!!!!! I hope whoever called this one in won’t procreate. We have enough sheeple…

Congratulations! You win the WTF of the day award.
My Pop was ANTIFA. He started his “walk across Europe” on 7 June 1944. He had a few hundred thousand other ANTIFA with him and there was this guy named Eisenhower who kinda put the whole thing together.
Here in fascist occupied Amerikkka alleged Republican “tough guys” quiver in their shipping containers, oops I mean bunkers waiting for an invasion of online bloggers and hippies of every age and stripe who are simply fed up with their whiny a$$ bullsh1t.
Have no fear. It’ll never come. You’re simply too insignificant to be bothered with and as long as you’re in your bunker thingy you’re really not a threat.
Enjoy your K rations. 👍😂

No. Here at Soros World Domination Headquarters we have our own well paid, in -house incendiary technicians working 24/7. This is none of our doings. Tin foil hat QANON Honsal just likes to waste the taxpayer’s money and bring out his pet EOD robot.

Fireworks should be banned in Humboldt County. Not only are they dangerous, but they also release toxic substances and heavy metals when they explode. When many fireworks are being used at once, the air smells extremely polluted. There’s no reason not to protect air quality from fireworks.
