EPD Issued Shelter in Place This Afternoon After a Possible Home Invasion Robbery

EPD spokesperson Brittany Powell wrote us, “No suspects or victims were located inside the residence. Officers are clearing the scene but will continue the investigation into what occurred.” She added, “This appears to be a targeted incident.”
All the tactical people have left the scene and the roads around the area are clear. But there are several officers still on scene investigating the incident.
A few officers are still at the scene as of 8:06 p.m.

Kym? I know it would be too much to ask to keep it civil. And waaaay too much to ask to keep it intelligent. But can we at least keep it on topic? This guy ^^^ has a one-track mindless. It’s getting old.
Kym is a free speech advocate so she has light touch on censorship (which is unusual in a lot of social media).
On the practical side, moderating comments tightly would take a huge amount of uncompensated time and seems like it would be a painful and boring job that would probably cause lots of whining by censored posters.
this is a friendlier posting atmosphere then the opposing site where moderating has gone off the rails.
Have you noticed there is only about a dozen people that are allowed to post on that site! The rest are banned for not having the same point of view. It’s rather a sad thing for a supposedly journalist.
huge props to kym, as opposed as I am to much of what appears to be her personal inclinations, for allowing the wide spectrum of divergent opinions.
the site is certainly NOT an echo chamber, and Ms. Kemp should be lauded for her courage.

The pressure from my “comrades” (interesting turn of phrase) isn’t much and doesn’t bother me. The falsehoods, the misconceptions, and the outright hate posted by some commenters makes me question my commitment to free speech almost hourly. Some folks manage to post things that I disagree with but phrase them without hate. Some folks are struggling with that aspect of communication.
Sad that so many Americans can’t seem to disagree civilly these days. Still free thought and free speech remain as important as ever.
Thanks for your commitment to allowing diverse viewpoints on your site. It does not go unnoticed.

If you’re responding to my post, the vehicle I reported on was allegedly involved in the home invasion in Eureka. The description went out as a BOLO, along with 2 other vehicles…older green Toyota P/U and a silver Kia Soul. What’s the problem with that?

At some point you have to look at the political leadership state and federal and clearly see that it is a state being run by some of the most morally bankrupt and incompetent leadership since Tammany hall. Crime is the number one issue if you aren’t safe then our goverment has failed us. We can vote out corrupt politicians and Ideologues like Newsom but its also judges leveling huge fines against officers for doing their jobs.
Most politicians suck. Their main qualifications are that they are cynical, prodigious liars who are able to manipulate a gullible majority of the voters. A democracy is no better than the voters so crap voters = crap democracy.
Best approach is to minimize power and $ we give to politicians.
democracy is a false god, in these modern times, it’s simply oligarchy in drag. constitutional republic and Rule Of Law, now receding into the rear view of history, were our best and last hope.

Please provide facts with references. Fentanyl seizures and border detentions are up under under Biden. Problem is the demand for drugs. Then again, I’ll never forget my statistics professor telling us numbers can be easily manipulated don’t always tell the story.

The only reason Biden won is because he was running against Trump. Another other Republican, other than Madison Cawthorn, would have likely won. I come from a long family of Republicans and almost all of them did not vote for Trump. Morals and character played a huge role. Hopefully a moderate conservative, stand up, person of character with decent morals who can work not only with their own cabinet and all members of Congress will emerge from the Republican party.
