Puppies!
Tanner and Hunter are 14-week-old Pit Bull Terrier mix puppies at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter.
According to the Shelter, Tanner and Hunter are “very curious, friendly and playful” young puppies that really love people and other dogs. “Young Tanner thinks he’s still a lap puppy enjoying snuggles in the arms of our awesome volunteers…Tanner currently weighs in at 18 lbs with plenty of growing still to do.” They say that “Hunter currently weighs in at 17 lbs with plenty of growing still to do.”

I am looking for a young dog that will weigh less than 25 pounds t maturity. There are no small dogs at this shelter and mostly pitbulls.
Lots of small dogs at Sequoia Shelter at the way south end of Eureka.
Thank you. I will check them out ❤
Three years ago, we rescued Lucy, an 11 mo. old Doxie mix. She was in the first kennel when we walked in. We needed one that wouldn’t exceed 20 lbs. The other day we took her into the vets for shots. She weighs 16.5 pounds and is quite healthy. One just has to be patient and one will find the right one.
Thank you
I have known some great pit bulls that loved people. The problem is the owners, they raise them to be aggressive using various cruel methods including bait dogs etc. I would not hesitate to get a pit pup just socilize them well with both people and other animals.
I had pitbulls for 40 years and loved everybone of them. I am a 75 year old woman who just wants a little dog ☺
no pit bulls are very aggressive animals and they can kill someone on the spot. 100 years of history breeding this animal to be the best fighting dog. they should have just bred this animal for barbecues
retrievers : breed genetic predisposition
pointers : breed genetic predisposition
heelers : breed genetic predisposition
ratters : breed genetic predisposition
pit bulls : it’s how the owner raises them
Look socialization and how a dog is raised is obviously very important and will have large effects on the dog they become, but to deny that breed has anything to do with behavior is untruthful, and certainly unscientific. Why do we not have Collies doing police work? Beagles as protection dogs? Pugs memorizing 200 toys like an Australian Shepheard?
The fact is breed plays a large role in disposition, and yes there are plenty of nice pitbulls, but aggression is absolutely overrepresented in the breed.
Beware of pit bulls. They are only good as weapons. And we know what type of garbage uses animals as weapons…..
