Was the tractor speeding?

Looking at the damage done, I’d say someone was.

Betcha no. Tractor was likely going slower than the car that wacked them from behind.

Hopefully the tractor had a ‘slow moving vehicle’ sign on the back.
Otherwise the farmer is in trouble.

They hit the back of a large tractor, sunny day, big wide straight road, you could see for 1/2 a mile. An orange triangle wouldn’t make any difference. They were not looking out the front window in the direction they were traveling. Lucky it wasn’t a minivan full of kindergraders. Only YOU are in control of YOUR car!

Sort of looks like the vehicle driver hates John Deere tractors. By viewing the front of his ram mobile,he would be better off just giving the tractor driver the finger. I sure hope the John Deere driver is going to be fine.

A simple Dear John letter would’ve sufficed.

It is legal in California. Sometimes a tractor needs to move from point a to point b on a public road.

The area where this happened is certainly agricultural.

I suppose if the highway is the only road in, or through, town, then it’s allowed. Example: Cedarville – two roads: H299 and H395. Sure, there are a few side streets, but, they that don’t go far.

They even have to go on highway 101 sometimes. They are pretty damned hard to miss visually. Physically maybe not so much.

I can’t visualize this stretch of the road, but just yesterday I was driving home from Eureka and up by the Vista point, there was a big tractor hauling a wide load — an implement that maybe was used for brushing or heavy mowing. No flag or extra “wide load” vehicle. I had room to get past and plenty of advance visual awareness, but it extended well over its lane lines. I remember remarking to my husband that I was glad I hadn’t come on it on the other side of that sharp bend in the road. If a vehicle came on a slow, wide vehicle on a blind corner, it could be bad.

There’s a photo of the scene.
Then, didja know, from Eureka, the rest of Humboldt is only 15 min., to two hrs. away? You can check it out.

You can drive a tractor anywhere, any time. I’ve waited behind giant rubber track crawler combines on hwy 20 crossing the 505.

Proclamation of random laws don’t belong in this comment section.
Because something sounds reasonable to you is probably an indication that you should use your eyes before you use any other thing you use.

Generally it’s presumed to be the fault of the driver who hits someone from behind. Distracted drivers don’t belong on the highway.

Yes they do. As does the operator. They feed us. Pay attention, and give them and other equipment the right away. Food producers are far more important than idiot politicos, like in last nights monkey show. What a bunch of idiots. Don’t want another Jan 6th? Lower gas and food prices, and stop starving babies. Otherwise, you idiots can expect another 6th, as well as a 7th and and 8th. Jan 6th was nothing compared to the BLM Antifa riots in Portland and other democrat run cities causing billions of dollars of damage to mostly black owned businesses, and more than 40 deaths. Democrat monkeys are the criminals. Where is Tarzan when you need him?

🤔🧐

Wow!

“Guest” got a lot of reprimands for his comment…

I’m glad it wasn’t me.

I wonder if “Guest” found a “drive thru test site” in Mendocino?

‘Cause that wasn’t me either…🤔🤷‍♂️

That’s a stretch I believe is 45 mph. Has a dip and a slight bend in the road. Impacting vehicle wasn’t paying attention.

Dip shit, for not paying attention to what’s in the road in front of them.
Hope nobody got seriously hurt.

Maybe the driver of the vehicle is a type 1 diabetic and had low blood sugar at time of collision.

Then lucky they didn’t plow into the back of your car! Know your limits?
