Cal Poly Humboldt Seeks Identity of Trespasser
Cal Poly Humboldt sent out an alert today to staff and students stating, “Between May 22 and May 27 a suspect trespassed inside an unoccupied room of the Campus Apartments.”
The notice told the University community, “The suspect is not considered to be a physical danger to the campus community. The suspect is no longer inside and the room has been locked up.”
Though Cal Poly sent out a photo, at this time they do not know the suspect’s name.
They ask, “If anyone from the campus knows who the suspect is, sees the suspect, or has information, please contact the University Police Department at 707-826-5555.”

Damn. Let it go. Or at the most, find him and just have a talk with him. Find out his situation. It likely isn’t good.
It says he “trespassed”. Does not say ‘breaking and entering’. Let’s have compassion.

If he just opens a door and sleeps or spends time in one of my buildings, yes. If he seems of sound mind, I might make or buy him a meal too. ….Is that so strange??? If so, what a sad, cold world we live in.
I for one have no compassion for these people who are trashing our neighborhoods and streets. I think we need to have less compassion and run them out to the next town. That’s just me.
Perhaps there are other ways to help not hurt? Be kind it matters.
Me too. But there is variation in the houseless population. You’re seeing the damage from the ones you’re understandably frustrated with…but there are others who are just struggling, not aggressive or trashy and so you don’t notice them. And they don’t like the trashy ones either!

I am with you. I’ve made or bought many a coffee, dinner whatever I can afford at the time and provided a shower and sometimes a tiny bit of currency. It does make a difference. For both me and them. We all know who’s o.k. and who’s not in this small community. These are our house less people and it’s up to us to create soul-utions. Pushing them away and looking away solves nothing. Oh yeah religion has nothing to do with it. But empathy and conscience does.
