EXIT Theatre in Arcata presents Creekside Arts’ Ryan McCutchan and Larry Crist as they take their Greenhouse Performance on the road. The performances, directed by John Heckel, will be presented at EXIT Theatre, 890 G Street, second floor, in Arcata Friday and Saturday June 3rdand 4th at 8pm and Sunday June 5th at 3pm. Tickets are $15 and available online at https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/ryan-mccutchan-larry-crist-361209 . Cash at the door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Director John Heckel says “While Ryan investigates the gods that accompanied us as we settled in America, Larry speaks to the Gods we birthed here.”
Ryan McCutchan will perform The Mead of the Poets. A Norse Myth retold from work by Neil Gaiman. Where did you get that poem? From a hole in the ground? From the blood of a god made from spittle? From the throat of a father eagle? From the dark laboratory of Dwarves? From the hoard of Frost Giants? It will be told… the twisty turvy tale of Kvasser and how the world was given the honey wine of eloquence and scholarship.
Larry Crist will perform TV: The Lost Years. “If you’re a child of the Fifties, it’s likely you don’t remember life before tv. Tv was always there, incarnated and already familiar in form through radio, inveigling itself into our national consciousness, contaminating us with commercials and insidious unadulterated capitalism. If you were alive at the time you know where we were when Kennedy was shot, MLK, the Challenger exploded or the Twin Towers came down; we remember helicopters shoved from carriers as Saigon was evacuated, Civil Rights marches, or Colonel Blake not making it home from M*A*S*H’s Korea—most assumed this was Vietnam. There’s scarcely a moment occurring over the past 75 years undocumented by tv or its antecedents.”
