Mendocino County law enforcement is responding to an Anderson Valley property where a man is reportedly burning a female partner’s property and threatening to shoot members of law enforcement, according to scanner traffic beginning around 6:45 p.m.

The incident, located on the 18000 block of Lambert Lane, was initially reported as a domestic dispute in which the man was burning the property of his female partner. That woman told dispatch he was armed with a long rifle in the initial calls.

The dispatcher confirmed that the man has multiple firearms, has a military background, and has been flagged in their system as anti-law enforcement. The man also stated he would commit suicide by cop and would be hiding in a nearby creekbed as law enforcement approached.

A crisis worker was requested to the scene but they reportedly will not respond.

The scanner has gone quiet regarding the incident since 7:03 p.m. which could indicate law enforcement transitioned to an encrypted scanner feed.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. UPDATE 7:43 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene relayed to the dispatch that using an unmanned aerial vehicle, they had visual of the armed man visibly holding a firearm and watched him walk between a “shop”, a trailer, and a two-story residence where the reporting parties are reportedly located.

UPDATE 7:52 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene is reporting that they have visual of the armed man with his hands up and are directing him to come towards them.

UPDATE 8:23 p.m.: The situation is over. Officers on scene reported no further assistance is needed and the man is in custody.

UPDATE: The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department’s Nixle alert states that the shelter in place order has been lifted and the situation has been resolved.

The place is an hour from Ukiah and father from Ft. Bragg. Usually it isn’t worth the effort of the county, with an hour being the absolute minimum response time. It can be hard to get a response from officials… in my personal opinion, this is sometimes for the best. I used to live on Lambert Lane.
