I’m ‘inclined’ to think it’s a good thing that they “got a leg up on it”, especially considering the location…
“Hat tip” ( “Helmet tip”, and everything else, for that matter”, I suppose…)
Cool video!
Looks like it may have been started by a mower. Always check for rocks before mowing and have a hose nearby. 👍🏼
It does look freshly mowed. Having a hose nearby is a very good idea. Some folks don’t realize a mower blade hitting a rock can put sparks in the grass and start a fire. If you are using a riding mower, clamping on a good fire extinguisher can be a property saver. Shelter Cove Fire Department is fantastic!!!
Provided you have a valid burn permit….don’t be a dumbass. Do Not Burn
The cause of the fire was a permitted burn pile reigniting several days later when it was no longer being tended. The gusting wind whipped up the core and ignited a mowed field. Thank you, alert neighbor with the honking horn, 911 and SCFD for handling the fire so swiftly! If the wind is up on permitted burn days, don’t burn, please.
