40 year old male, deceased…

“Perfectly normal”…

What have we become?

How very not normal, IMO.

How is this not a tragedy?

May he rest in peace…

You’re the only person who equated the death of a 40 year-old with normality. The sheriff spokesperson said no signs of foul play.

His “COD (Cause of Death) could have been any number of reasons, Heart Attack, OD or some other thing!!!

We were not a nation of tent dwellers when I was growing up. A person living/dying in a tent is “normal” to you? That is Guest’s question

No, back “in the day”, sheriff would have run said tent dweller out of town to a larger civilization. We have always had homelessness and poverty. People are paying attention now to how bad it actually is.

We have each and every democrat legislator to thank, for the current crisis in California…Nancy Pelosi’s district in Frisco is full of tents, urine and feces…People are leaving California in droves…

It’s always the democrats fault huh…
That’s why the republicans lost the house, senate and the whitehouse in only 4 years time. The only accomplishments they’re good at…. Is losing

I take issue with your comment. Besides losing, they are extremely good at lying, cheating, stealing, raping and blaming it all on others.

We are going to be one by the end of this century though I think. Our civilization is in it’s decline and fall phase, not just the USA, but the entire planet. Anywhere that is not suffering drought in a hundred years and that is still largely agrarian will have a leg up on everyone that did not go into an Armageddon shelter. I was not thinking along those lines before reading Dark Age America recently.

If you weren’t aware, the author of that book is a self-proclaimed Druid. He writes from a “magic” perspective. Good for him, I guess.

“Foul play is not suspected at this time”…

Isn’t that what they said about the Kneeland death that was eventually ruled a homicide?

What are the alternatives?

Natural death?

I guess what I sarcastically meant was “perfectly natural”…

And…

“How very not “natural”, IMO.”

There, is that better for your little bitty, tootsie feelies?

It was not just the sheriff’s seemingly cavalier attitude about the death that I was implying, it was the overall societal lack of compassion and concern for such an early, “isolated” death.

Would it be too much to ask of the HCSO to offer even some small some semblance of token condolences to the family and or friends?

Absent that, it seems pretty damn cold of them.

The HCDPH even offers that to the victims that succumb to Covid19. And they are weak.

And as far as I am concerned, an OD that involves illegal drugs, involves illegal drug dealing, and I personally consider that foul play.

I would strongly disagree with anyone that implies that an OD that was caused by an unprescribed medication or narcotic, is not a death that involved foul play. (If that is what happened)

Was the coroner called?

Normally, it was my impression, the coroner is not involved in a “natural” death, but I could be mistaken…

And it is also my impression, that an autopsy need not be performed, in the event of a “natural” death.

It is also my impression, that a forty year old man, dying “in a tent near the river bar”, noatter the cause, with no apparent associated family or friends, is an extremely tragic situation, indicative of a society whose fabric is becoming threadbare, careless, and sadly, precariously, unraveled.

Hat tip to “Humboldt Lady”, for the refreshing degree of appropriate compassion, seemingly lacking in our professional protectors.

Wouldn’t a fentanyl overdose death at least cause an investigation of manslaughter crime?

It happens in Hoopa, I believe that someone was actually arrested for that there…

That is exactly the kind of foul play that I am talking about…

Nope. When my son was poisoned with Fentanyl in March of 2021, I called Arcata PD and asked if they were going to do an investigation. I was told that he and his friends “were all on drugs.” They don’t give a shit. To them, my baby is just one less dirtbag.

If you’re actually concerned, call the HCSO for answers, as opposed to spinning on social media.

What I’m trying to say, is that it is a tragedy.

I just thought the press release was a little too, “matter of fact”.

My condolences to the family, and my apologies, if my attempts at compassion towards this young man, have somehow failed…

It was not my intention to be disrespectful. Quite the contrary.

The news saddened me. I am a father, too. This young man was very close to the age of my sons.

I am very sorry to hear of his passing. It’s heartbreaking.

He may have picked the time, method and place of his own death?
Fentanyl must be a suicidal persons best friend.

Thank you for the update…
I’ve also been wondering about the remains found in Garberville recently…

The missing gal from Twin Trees Rd, may have been last seen in Garberville, near Ray’s Sentry… It’s in the comment section pertaining to her disappearance, from a gal that met her at the Deerhorn Store, and then worked there after the missing gal did… The time frame is a little vague, but it was mentioned, Early July, 2017, if I remember correctly…

Just another possibility…
