Highway 199 Blocked After Vehicle Accident

Traffic is backing up along Highway 199 north of Gasquet. Both lanes of the highway are blocked after a traffic accident involving a white Chevy Suburban.

Initial reports on the CHP Traffic Incident Page stated that the vehicle hit the embankment, but another 911 caller reported a rock had hit the vehicle. Further information stated the vehicle left the roadway striking a rock.

Although an ambulance was requested, the involved party has refused medical treatment and the incident is listed as a non-injury accident and the ambulance has been cancelled.

Agencies on-scene are setting up traffic control, please avoid the area if possible.
