Yurok Tribal Council Endorses Ben McLaughlin for Humboldt County Superior Court Judge

The Yurok Tribal Council announced their endorsement of Ben McLaughlin for Humboldt County Superior Court Judge.  The Yurok join neighboring Hoopa Valley Tribe supporting McLaughlin, along with Del Norte County District Attorney Katherine Micks, former Humboldt District Attorney Paul Gallegos and a host of current and former Deputy District Attorneys and Public Defenders who have worked for years with McLaughlin.

McLaughlin stated, “I am honored to receive endorsements from the Hoopa Valley and Yurok Tribes.  I’ve prosecuted and defended tribal members during my career, but always tried to treat Tribal members fairly and was cognizant of their unique circumstances.  In addition, the Tribes recognize my commitment as we work in a collaborative process to establish a Memorandum of Understanding with Humboldt County’s judicial partners to establish new avenues for improving outcomes and  accountability for criminal behavior by tribal members.”
