Humboldt County Democrats Endorse Steven Steward for Humboldt County Superior Court Judge

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee:

The Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee has endorsed Steven Steward to be Humboldt County’s next Superior Court Judge.

Mario Fernandez, Chairman of the Democratic Central Committee, writes:

“Steven Steward possesses the experience, temperament, and good judgment that our community not only expects, but needs from the next Humboldt County Superior Court Judge. Mr. Steward’s proven track record of hard work, commitment, and dedication to Humboldt County is the reason that he carries such community support.  With his extensive legal experience as both a defense attorney and prosecutor, he is well prepared for this important job and ready to bring fairness, compassion, and accountability to our courts.”

This adds another important community endorsement to his growing list of supporters throughout Humboldt County and across the political spectrum. “I appreciate the support of the Humboldt County Democrats and look forward to working with members of all political parties as we enter the final month of this campaign.”  Said Steward. “ Republicans, Democrats and independent voters have coalesced around this campaign’s message of experience, fairness, compassion and accountability, and I appreciate their enthusiastic support.”

Are you going to be tough on crime?

Are these flash mobs of theft going to start in Humboldt?

Are we going to continue to let repeat offenders lose?

He will be an honest and fair judge…with no conflicts of interest due to his living situation like his competitor.

Meme. I am not clear what you are saying. You believe “his competitor” has a conflict of interest? If so, please tell me/ us about that conflict. And name names.
Thanks!

Uh oh! Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t Judge Neel been behind some recent cases of very lenient sentencing? That name Neel…sticks in my craw.

I’ve been a life-long radical and while not liking either party I have felt that the DEMs were much closer to my political beliefs. But…well…I’m nowhere near a REP but I do automatically recoil whenever the DEMs-especially our local DEMs-endorse a candidate. Their endorsement of a judge really makes me suspect. I do believe in compassion but the local DEMs almost always rally around some version of Misplaced Compassion which ends up in release of dangerous and violent criminals at the expense of the innocent public. So yeah- if they endorse this guy then I’m voting the other way. We really really need judges in Humboldt that do not release violent and dangerous criminals hoping they will somehow magically get better. Maybe some do. Maybe some. But what about the next victims who are living good, decent lives and commit no major crimes? Why are they constantly exposed to danger by this short-sighted Misplaced Compassion? My compassion is with the innocents, not the criminals…the pendulum has swung too far and we need judges who understand that.

Then you most certainly shouldn’t vote for someone that works in the public pretenders office! That includes for DA as well!

The job of the public defender is to represent the accused. So I have no problem with them doing that job well, working for lighter sentencing. That’s what we expect them to do. But I’m not sure I could vote for somebody who has done that job well to jump on to the opposing side and be effective. I want a prosecutor who can discern between minor screw-ups and serious criminals and who then applies the resources to getting those serious criminals off the streets. Of course so much depends on the judge- all plea agreements must have the judge’s blessing. I don’t know this candidate for judge but I’m not sure getting a DEM endorsement is a good sign – because of our current fixation on Misplaced Compassion…I guess that’s what I’m saying.

Democrats endorse, is that considered a plus or a minus these days? I remember 2 years ago the United States had the cheapest fuel out of all countries. That is gone, cheapest food, that is gone. This new circus is doing great things for the retired generation, value of dollar dropping like a rock, what happened to the US leading countries economically, is that goal gone? Yeah , I got a Democrat to endorse me, crack me up. You might want to rethink that one Steven.

Since when do political parties set fuel prices? Oul companies are privately owned not public utilities. 😂
