Dear Ms. Kemp,

I am writing to show my support for Ben McLaughlin who is running for Superior Court Judge.

I met Ben in 2018 when I started working at the Public Defender’s Office. From the beginning, I witnessed his compassion and patience. As a new attorney, Ben took me under his wing and became my mentor. Nobody asked him to do this, he just did it. He answered my millions of questions and trained me to be a trial attorney.

Not only is Ben compassionate and patient but also, he has the legal experience to be an excellent judge. He has practiced both civil and criminal law. And he has held positions as a deputy prosecutor and deputy public defender. Having viewed cases from both sides, allows Ben a unique perspective that other candidates do not share. Furthermore, he is an expert in evidence, which I believe is an absolute necessity for a sitting judge. With his experience, he could hit the ground running if elected.

Besides his wealth of legal knowledge, I appreciate and admire many of Ben’s attributes. He is modest and humble. Although he is an excellent attorney, he does not seek out recognition for his efforts. He works hard for his clients and not for the accolades. I believe that if elected, he would be just as dedicated to maintaining the justice in his courtroom.

Finally, Ben cares about people and wants to see them treated fairly. For example, during my first trial, Ben sat as second chair to assist me. Our client was from Southern California and could not afford a hotel. Ben used his own money to pay for a hotel room so our client would not have to sleep in his car during the trial. Another time, he bought gas and food for a client who lived out of town and could not afford these necessities.

As displayed above, Ben has the compassion, empathy, experience, patience, knowledge, and humility to be an excellent judge. I support his candidacy and hope you will too.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best,

Jessica Bennett

Why is that? People shouldn’t have opinions on elected officials? It seems to me that this was a very well written letter by someone who actually has personal experience with the candidate.

I worked as a clerk my entire life up to 3 years ago. I know all about boot lickers.

A lot of time these puff piece’s are written by the individual or wives of said.

Since we’re on the topic of Ben. Would you mind answering one question?

Is Ben an Elk or a member of any society of masonry?

I have yet to meet a judge who isn’t.

You can go to Lost Coast Outpost and post your question directly to Mr. McLaughlin if you are really interested in the answer. They have a feature allowing people to ask questions of candidates.

I would want to know who he parties with

It’s a small club and who is in it?

Remember Eris Wagner? She lost to Christopher Wilson…who partied with all the scumbag lairs (oops, lawyers). Sickening seeing them nod and grin to each other in the courtroom knowing they were all on the same side.

She would have been a good and fair judge but noooo…..

Ms. Bennett implies that only Mr. McLaughlin has worked as both prosecutor and defense counsel. Truth is, Mr. Steward has also served in both capacities.

Really? Comparing Mr. Steward’s 12 years with Mr. McLaughlin’s 23 and calling them equal? Elections do crazy things to people’s perceptions.
