Upcoming Cal Poly Humboldt Cannabis Study Featuring Speaker Dr. Michael Polson
Press release from Cal Poly Humboldt:
Michael Polson will reflect on the commoning practices that cannabis farmers innovated under prohibition and what lessons they may have in considering an emancipatory legalization. Michael is an Associate Project Scientist at UC Berkeley, with dual appointments in the Departments of Geography and Environmental Science, Policy & Management. Trained as an anthropologist at City University of New York – Graduate Center, Dr. Polson is currently working on two research projects. The first, with PI Nathan Sayre and Co-PI Ann Laudati, explores the effects of cannabis legalization on unregulated cannabis markets in California. The second, with PI Christy Getz and PhD Candidate Margiana Petersen-Rockney, analyzes the causes and effects of cannabis cultivation bans. These projects are the latest in over a decade of research on the political economy of cannabis during a period of massive policy upheaval.

Does anyone at Humboldt State have any clue what the focus of a Polytechnic school is supposed to be?
Maybe I’m not giving them a chance. I can check back in 30 years. Maybe. If I’m lucky.
I don’t think so. A cannabis program, rodeo team. They apparently have a ton of money that could go to better pay of professors. Where have they been hiding all this money?
Nice to see the far right embracing the future of America. They are usually more interested in funding programs for the homeless or other less fortunate members of society whom enjoy burning out there brains smoking weed and using other narcotics bought with tax payer funds. This professor is a breath of fresh air with his progressive ideas towards the future. You’re university could use more conservative teaching like this. Once education is free to all the Maga set will be able to move on to other alternatives with uncle joe.

Best of luck to you young man.
//what lessons they may have in considering an emancipatory legalization.//
Hard to define equity with visions of your mom getting dragged accross a field. Dad spending 5 years of life in jail. Unforgiving bitterness is the lesson they taught. Now the best lesson is to not go legal after seeing the industry destroy the community I love.
Who in the triangle needs to hear a “lecture” about this stuff? I’ll bet most of us know more than this guy could ever learn second, third, fourth hand.
Yea, what I saw down south was pretty sad. Disheartening bein with my own eyes seeing families torn a part including mine. Goin through life and enduring family, friends and dear loved ones no longer here as a result of the war on drugs. They talk about being subjected to harsh treatment but they don’t really know how harsh the physical treatment was or a clue about the mental treatment (stigma). They lived through a microscopic view of the plants journey to legalization yet tout themselves as warriors. Well, til they meet me.
He actually is in connection with all the OGs. I’m really looking forward to his analysis , Micheal rocks.
