Kim Bergel Kicks Off Campaign for Supervisor

Kim Bergel for supervisor campaignPress release from Kim Bergel:

Eureka City Council person Kim Bergel will kick off her campaign for Humboldt County Board of Supervisors representing the Fourth District on Thursday Jan 20 at 4:30 at Madaket Plaza at the foot of C St. in Eureka.

In her almost eight years on Eureka Council, Kim has worked diligently to improve the health, safety and quality of life for her constituents.  She worked with the Transportation Safety Commission to get Eureka declared a bike friendly community, supported community  projects like the Redwood Skywalk at the Zoo and passionately endorsed the return of Tuluwat Island to the Wiyot Tribe. She has worked with police and mental health professionals to better serve the community needs through the CAPE, UPLIFT Eureka and MIST, which assist individuals and families in finding  jobs and housing.

Kim is dedicated to creating a fairer tax system for cannabis farmers and businesses and finding other ways to better support this legacy pillar of Humboldt’s economy.  As a county supervisor she will also continue to show up and voice her strong support for nurses and medical professionals fighting to achieve safer staffing levels and more reasonable working conditions in our hospitals and care homes.

Kim recognizes that many of Humboldt’s upcoming opportunities , including new communication infrastructure, port development, offshore wind energy and the land-based fish farm will need political support as well as strong infrastructure. Humboldt County needs the well-paying jobs and other benefits these progressive projects will provide.

“I show up, I’m out in the trenches, I listen and I am easily accessible.  I am passionate about Humboldt and I am passionate about building a better future for all of our citizens.” Kim says.  “Let’s build on what’s working and face the challenges together.”

Nutjob assistant Mayor to Susan Seaman, she would probably begin her $100,000/year career by painting “smiley faces” all over everything, and stick-on flowers like on all the ’66 Volkswagens back in Haight-Ashbury…

There has got to be a candidate, somewhere in that district, who is operating on a level plane, with all of her/his marbles, and not beholden to the Pot-Monied monsters currently controlling the County Supervisor’s Office…

Please, please, please don’t vote for lowbrow mommyism and unqualified silliness, next time around…

Knowing that that right wing nut job Cornelius and all other deplorables fear her, I know she is going to be right for Humboldt.

That’s true. Her commitment to playing homeless included trespassing and B&E, until she got itchy and had to go home.

Kim is a good person and has done much good for Eureka. She would do good for the County.

About 18 months ago Kim and her eureka council buddy were overheard talking while shopping downtown. They had a city council meeting that night and the ladies were mocking how they can zoom the meeting from the back of the store and no one would ever know. This is not who we need as a supervisor, someone who already feels they are better then you or I.

I would never vote for anyone who is on the Eureka City Council. The city is a shithole. If they can’t improve the city, how can they help the county? The homeless problem has been totally ignored. The drug problem has been totally ignored. The terrible eyesore of old town is unforgivable. They want the job, the paycheck, the control, but refuse the responsibility that goes along with it. Sorry Kim, but the failures on the ECC will in turn be failure on the BOS. Find something you can actually do and leave leadership to someone who can.

Last year I went to a big city to the south and our homeless issue is minor compared to a larger city’s.

So what… she’s trying to get a “better” job with more responsibility. She hasn’t changed Eureka for the better. The ECC has made it worse, if anything. It’s the way liberals think that’s the problem. If someone is a liberal, regardless of how incompetent, they get voted in.

Thanks to your snarky comment about “liberals” (which is irrelevant to this race) You just secured my vote FOR KIM BERGEL.

That’s great Sam that eureka homeless problem is a minor issue. You should go tell the business owners who are picking up the sickening messes left behind, or the people who are scared to walk the streets due to the danger these scuz pose to the public. Let people know this is a small problem, I am sure they will agree with you.

Those little BMX bikes are everywhere.

Well there’s those corner sidewalk curb buildouts (or whatever the fuck they are called) that force bicyclists to ride out into traffic lanes everytime they get to a corner. Some Brandonesque thinker would call them bike friendly.

Not to mention these pop-out curbs give a false sense of security to those who are in wheel chairs. It brings them right into the direct path of motorists while still navigating the ramp with all the little jitterbug yellow plating.

There was very limited thinking that went into that project. Funds musta been available that needed to get spent. These (let’s call ’em) pop-out curbs have made parking difficult where it used to be easy (Henderson Center). I bet people of all ages are stumbling over the maze of curbs they are expected to navigate. Just way beyond stupid on all accounts.
