[UPDATE 9:09 a.m.: Most Have Power Restored] Almost 2000 SoHum Residents Left Without Power After PG&E Experiences ‘Emergency Issue’
As of just before 5 p.m., PG&E’s Outage Map states that the cause is “an emergency issue.”
“We are still looking to restore power,” explained Deanna Contreras, spokesperson for the power company. “We are still looking into [the cause].” She said that the outage stretched from beyond Redway/Garberville to Petrolia. At this point there is no estimated time of restoral, she told us.
UPDATE 5:40 p.m.: PG&E is working on a pole at the north end of Garberville near the 101 onramp. Our reporter, Lisa Music, tells us that a pole is broken and PG&E is on scene working on it now. She says there is still no estimated time of restoration. According to her, the PG&E worker told her that most of Garberville had power, but some areas were affected.
Wave Cable is working nearby the PG&E crew. Lisa Music told us that Wave Cable was working on Redwood Drive. Some customers have told us that they don’t have internet. UPDATE 6:42 p.m.: About 200 residents have had power restored but over 1700 are still without electricity.UPDATE 6:51 p.m.: Supervisor Michelle Bushnell is reporting on her Facebook page that power should be restored around 7:30 p.m.
UPDATE 10:05 p.m.: The power is still out. And PG&E is saying it will be 4 a.m. before it is restored.
UPDATE 9:01 a.m.: PG&E is reporting that power should have been restored as of 9 a.m. However, the outage map is still showing about 1600 customers without power.
UPDATE 9:09 a.m.: Most customers have had their power restored in the Redway/Garberville to Whitethorn area. However, PG&E Outage Map still says just under 250 customers in the Petrolia and the Redway area.
