This is a press release from the Crescent City Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On December 6th, 2021, CCPD School Resource Officer Daniel Sanders responded to Crescent Elk Middle School for a burglary investigation. The burglary took place over the weekend and the suspect was caught on video footage as he stole several School District laptops and iPads. The suspect had also been seen on video using keys to gain access to some of the buildings and classrooms.During his investigation, SRO Sanders was able to identify the suspect as Matthew Taylor, age 36, who is a Crescent City resident. CCPD Officer Yeng Lo then located Taylor in the 500 block of M Street and detained him. During an interview Officer Sanders was able to locate one of the stolen laptops in the possession of Taylor. SRO Sanders was then able to locate two additional locations in the Crescent City area where Taylor was keeping the stolen property. All the property that was stolen during the burglary was recovered during SRO Sander’s investigation, including a set of school district keys that were used to gain access to the buildings. We are still investigating how Taylor came into possession of these keys, but it is believed that he took them during a previous burglary.Taylor was arrested and transported to the Del Norte County Jail for 459 PC, burglary. The case is still under investigation and will be given to the Del Norte County District Attorney for review.

Masks people! Always wear your mask. 🤦♂️
Sounds like the kind of officer we would all like to have around. Great job officer Sanders
You’d think somebody would have reported the theft of keys to locks on school property. Then maybe change locks. Doh! Crescent City. Unless maybe Keys To The School District were part of an awards ceremony, like keys-to-the-city. In 1987, the mayor and fire chief were indicted for burning up a pier. With accelerant. We also had a prosecutor-defense attorney wrestling match on the courthouse steps. There is no limit to the human spirit. Nothing is impossible, north of the Klamath.
More than likely, someone who already has a set of keys let this guy make copies of them.
And what evidentiary detail suggests that it’s “more than likely”?
Or is casting aspersions on random school disrict employees and making spurious claims your thing?
First semester finals coming up. Someone looking for answers?
