One Hospitalization, 80 New Cases Reported Since Friday

COVID-19 featurePress release from Humboldt County Public Health:

Humboldt County Public Health reported today 80 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, bringing to 10,259 the total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus. One new hospitalization of a resident in their 70s was also reported.

Over the weekend, 346 individuals were vaccinated at Public Health clinics held in Eureka and Fortuna that included pediatric, first and second doses, as well as additional doses and boosters.

Omicron has been detected in about a third of U.S. states, including in the Northeast, South, Great Plains and on the West Coast. Wisconsin and Missouri are among the latest to confirm cases. But Delta remains the dominant variant, making up more than 99% of cases and driving a surge in hospitalizations.

The consensus among researchers so far is that vaccines will likely continue to protect against severe COVID-19, but the Omicron variant may prove to spread faster than Delta, even among people who are fully vaccinated or have been previously infected.

There are currently no known cases of the Omicron variant in Humboldt County, but health officials are continuing to request that doctors ask patients about their travel history so that those who may have been exposed can be identified and tested.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) stricter COVID-19 testing requirements for all travelers entering the United States took effect today. The new rule requires each traveler flying into the U.S. from another country, regardless of vaccination status, to test negative one day before their departure. This changes rules that had allowed inbound travelers to test up to three days before entering the country.

Additionally, the CDC recommends that all international travelers get a COVID-19 test three to five days after travel regardless of vaccination status. Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 after travel should test immediately.

Residents who travelled internationally in the past two weeks and test positive on at-home tests are asked to call the Joint Information Center at 1-707-441-5000 to report their results to Public Health. Those who have not travelled outside the U.S. and test positive with an at-home test for COVID-19 should notify their primary care provider, or Public Health if there is no provider, and isolate to limit the spread of disease.

All eligible adults aged 18 and older are encouraged to get a booster. Health officials also stress that those who are partially vaccinated should complete their vaccination series. Someone who is fully vaccinated is half as likely to pass on the infection as someone who is unvaccinated. According to data from the CDC, an unvaccinated person is nearly six times more likely to get COVID-19 and 14 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than a vaccinated person.

Public Health is offering family vaccination clinics throughout December to give priority to children aged 5 to 11 and provide family members a convenient way to get their vaccines.

Vaccines, including boosters, are available at local pharmacies. To check the availability of a specific vaccine, visit the vaccines.gov page, or text a ZIP code to 438829 to locate a nearby pharmacy offering vaccines.

Humboldt County’s vaccination and testing services are available free of charge. Although walk-ins are allowed at most regular Public Health clinics and many pharmacy vaccination sites, a sharp increase in demand for boosters has caused delays at some locations. As a result, appointments are required for pediatric clinics and for clinics at Public Health’s main office. Appointments are strongly recommended for all other clinics and are the best way to ensure a shot is available during your visit. Appointments can be made at MyTurn.ca.gov.

Pretty good results for a three day weekend. Meanwhile Biden and the Dem cabal is running around like chickens with their heads cut off even while Fauci says omicron is not so bad, we need to lift Africa travel ban. Meanwhile crazy Dem De Blasio imposes a private sector vaccine mandate (likely to be overturned by courts). All this meantime mousey Joe wouldn’t even mention the word “covid” during his zoom with Xi last week. Guess the big guy already collected his 10% from that multi billion cobalt mine deal and knows to keep his mouth shut if he wants to keep the Chinese payola flowing. Yeah, his treason will be exposed once Pelosi is out in a year, perhaps indicted for obstruction of justice herself.

Yes but the positivity rate is now 17.4672489. And why restrictions for international flights but not for domestic flights? Doesn’t make sense. It’s already here.

Yeah, why even bother with any new travel restrictions when omicron is mild like its cousin, the common cold?

“Even if it is a mild disease, it’s important that we still act fast now to take measures to control its spread, because even if we have a large number of cases that are mild, some of those individuals will need hospitalizations … go into ICU, and some people will die,” she said on CBS. “More cases can mean more hospitalizations, more hospitalizations could mean more deaths and we don’t want to see that happen on top of an already difficult situation with delta circulating globally. https://www.thederrick.com/ap/national/could-omicron-cause-less-severe-covid-infections-there-s-optimism-but-also-worry/article_ea8dddd8-5678-5701-88a2-b35e0d6eeb43.html

Where is the cost vs benefit analysis behind this administration’s decisions? Certainly we’re not willing to further cripple our economy to save only a very few lives.

No, but simple steps like requiring testing before flying domestically, can slow its spread. And Delta is still the dominate strain. So the two have probably already met

Seems like a lot of rules for us citizens. Meanwhile, the immigrants go unchecked and untested, and get flown domestically all around the country. Seems silly at this point to have all these silly rules…

Exactly..the “vaccine” doesn’t protect us from Covid, and it doesn’t protect us from all of the silver iodide and salt that they keep spraying on us, through cloud seeding and operation blue skies. Man made Geo-engineering and bio weapons are killing us in the long term.

https://www.dailybulletin.com/2021/10/11/how-to-beat-the-drought-inland-empire-water-agency-wants-to-make-it-rain/amp/

The guys that are spraying this shit on us say that the levels are too low and harmless. But silver is one of the most toxic heavy metals. It can potentially kill micro marine ecosystems, which we as humans need to exist. China recently cleared all of its pollution in 2 days for a National celebration, changing poor air quality into good air quality, calling it a success. Our deep blue sky has turned milky blue.

It’s modern day agent Orange!

“ Risks or concerns like unwanted ecological changes, ozone depletion, continued ocean acidification, erratic changes in rainfall patterns, rapid warming if seeding were to be stopped abruptly, airplane effects”

Wouldn’t it be nice if Omicron proved to be the cure for the common cold? Or for future variants?

Maybe they better wait a little bit before they start developing a vaccine for it.

How Is the US Actually Doing on Tracking Variants Like Omicron?. Early this year, when experts called for an investment in the country’s ability to track SARS-CoV-2, the Biden administration listened. In February, it announced a $200 million “down payment” to track variants, followed by a $1.7 billion investment in April

Doesn’t really make sense to vaccinate against Omicron with vaccines that don’t work against it, does it?

That kind of caution?

Or to go ahead and travel, visit family, and take off your mask for Thanksgiving if you’re vaccinated, like Fauci said?

Except it did not come from a place where there were enough vaccinated to be got around. It came from a place which has a large population, who besides being unvaccinated, have untreated HIV and can’t get rid of most viruses. A sort of dating app site for viruses where the most unlikely can hook up together.

Viruses don’t engage in procreation. New viral particles are not the result of sexual reproduction from distinct parent viruses. I can’t believe that you don’t know that. In fact I know that you have used that same knowledge as a cudgel to denigrate those you disagree with on this board.

Don’t you have any scruples? Why would anyone on here listen to your opinion when you’re so flagrantly loose with the facts?

Mostly viruses spontaneously mutate. Sometimes they incorporate other virus strains- naturally recombinate viruses do occur. And, since untreated HIV- itself a retrovirus that can change the host DNA- prevents the immune system from clearing viruses, therefore allowing infection from different strains in the same cell, why wouldn’t that happen. And some strains of sars-cov-2 has evidence of having been recombined.

Before then the South African data should be in and your theory about Omicron being better as a deterrent for Delta and future variants may be proven. Won’t win you a Nobel if your right but will give you bragging rights

But why rush to vaccinate and boost with current vaccines when they are said to be potentially ineffective against Omicron, when Omicron is said to being mild with less serious outcomes?

And why develop an Omicron vaccine if it’s not that serious?

They already went ahead and vaccinated South Africa, even after the already dominant strain there was the already mutated B.1.351, that they knew evaded the vaccines to very substantial degrees.

And look what happened…

Omicron, etc.

And now they want to do it yet again?

They want everyone to rush to be vaccinated and boosted with the same stuff that worked less well against B.1.351, and may have led to Omicron, that they purport will potentially work even less well against Omicron?

That doesn’t make sense.
It’s madness.

Vaccinate with two shots, let them wane, then 6 months later get boosted, more waning, then what, an omicron jab?

I’m not even eligible for my Delta specific booster yet, not til April, although some might be now, and it still hasn’t arrived.

They’re telling us “vaccination won’t stop Omicron”.

And, that “it’s not serious”.

But they’re telling us to “get vaccinated”?

It’s making less and less sense.

Again, Key words. Half as likely, 6 times, 14 times. Delta is still the dominate strain. And viruses mutate, this was bound to happen vaccine or not.
And I personally don’t care how mild Omicron is, I don’t want to catch it. Long term effects etc. If given a choice between a vaccine or Omicron I will choose the vaccine. Just like I got a flu shot and vaxed against Shingles, But that is my personal choice. Thank you and God bless America…

Dec 7 (Reuters) – British drugmaker GSK (GSK.L) said on Tuesday its antibody-based COVID-19 therapy with U.S. partner Vir Biotechnology (VIR.O) is effective against all mutations of the new Omicron coronavirus variant, citing new data from early-stage studies. NOTE: The data, yet to be published in a peer-reviewed medical journal

I got chicken pox as a kid.
But I’m not getting a shingles shot.
I’ve never had a flu shot.

I got Moderna’s vaccine.
Two doses. Less than two months fully vaccinated.

Do I regret it. Yeah, kinda.

I’ve been tying a “truckers hitch”
for almost forty years. Mostly by muscle memory. Two days ago, I tied another one, no problem, but as I tried to tie the second one, I drew a complete blank. Pretty damn scary, if you ask me.

I totally respect your personal choice. As far as “Key Words”, please consider that half as likely becomes less relevant due to the fact that there are now twice as many vaccinated as there are unvaccinated.

I realize that the vaccinated are somewhat less likely to become infected, but as vaccination rates increase, and variants like Omicron increasingly evade vaccines’ protection, the comparative viral transmission by each group will equalize, and then become more common among the vaccinated.

It’s as inevitable as the virus mutating.

Eventually, it will be a disease of the vaccinated.

And all the vaccinations we have had in our lives, including the Covid19 vaccines, won’t stop what is coming next…

They haven’t yet.

Good lord- is every thing that goes wrong in your future going to be because of being vaccinated while every good thing is a lucky escape from being vaccinated? You see nothing wrong with this?

The advantage of vaccination is that a whole lot of people are still around to deal with the next problem than would have been without it. Chances are you are one of them. Chances are that if you hadn’t have been vaccinated, you’d still have an occasional hitch in your thinking. Or in this case, lack of a hitch. It’s called a senior moment by most people. Or a brain fart by the younger. You best get used to it because, among the other things not guaranteed by vaccination, it does not turn back time. Or eliminate stress that causes such mental derailments. You probably had it happen previously but, not having this focus on vaccines, it didn’t bother you.

It is doing the same thing that anti vaxxers do with VAERS- assuming every death after vaccination, even those who were in their nineties and in nursing homes, was caused by the vaccine. Which of course is ridiculous.

The analogies I used were pertinent to argument that anti vaxxers insist on- that a vaccine that doesn’t guarantee freedom from infection is not “really” a vaccine at all. Never mind it saves huge numbers of people dying or ending up in the hospital. They choose the present deaths because they fear that vaccines might … well, might kill people in mysterious ways that have not shown up yet way in the some indefinite indefinite future.

Unfortunately there are only limited resources shared with such people. They refuse vaccination but not the services of hospitals when they get sick. They refuse to take even minimal care to avoid spreading infection because they think themselves as invulnerable and don’t care about those who are. Therefore the idea that you have never advocated that vaccines be made unavailable is disingenuous. The comment that started this thread was made by you to point out how useless this vaccine is when it is not useless at all. Pretending they are not harming people by spreading inaccurate information, misleading anyone they can into not getting vaccinated, is not going to pass muster. To push the analogies you don’t understand further- you not only refuse to wear a seat belt yourself, you try to persuade anyone you can reach not to wear them either by announcing they would be stupid to think they could be useful.

Ah there’s that surly, judgemental auntie we all know and love. I see that those analogies are apparently relevant to that “anti-vaxxer” that lives in your head and engages in all the silliest behaviors that you can most easily shoot down.

I have to give you props, I have never seen a strawman so well built that it can take the continual whooping you lay on it. It’s a form of mental fortitude, to keep up this imaginary antagonist for so many months, that is impressive even if it isn’t very useful

Just a reminder of who we’re dealing with. In case you’re still shocked that some people would be skeptical of corporate claims parroted by captured regulatory agencies.

Shouldn’t that logic apply to say…..um, Mercola ?

And I know your just trying to throw stones at Pfizer, but if you really did give a shit about the subject, look, from your article;

In 2018, the Trump administration’s Justice Department issued the “Granston Memo,” which encouraged the dismissal of more whistleblower-initiated suits under the False Claims Act.

Good going. You voted for that.

Man, you’re a perfect example of the damage that happens to people when they allow themselves to get sucked into the false binaries of media entrainment.

I voted for Trump? That’s news to me. Where’d you get that info?

As for Mercola, have I ever promoted him or anything that he has produced? Am I on here all the time calling people who don’t use whatever he’s selling idiots and gleefully predicting their death? I don’t think so

Now let’s do you and Pfizer products…

Let’s not listen to anyone who has lied or committed fraud. That will get rid of every anti vaxxer for sure.

Haha please tell me one place where I have lied or committed fraud?

And yes, I stop trusting sources that repeatedly lie and commit fraud. If I found out my farmer was slipping dog in with the ground beef I sure as shit wouldn’t buy that ground beef anymore.

By the way, have you considered apologizing for your flagrant lies and the insults you slung based on them yet?

Good point, now that I think about it. I would take aunties snide suggestion if it meant that she and her ilk actually ignored the other proven liars like fauci, the pharma industry reps, and their mouthpiece media personalities. That would be a great deal and would result in a much calmer and more informed populace

Don’t worry, your Omicron booster for your boosted-booster, is already in development.

Puts a whole new meaning to…

“Gimme five”.

Just one more thing,

Will you be having “Pi” with that?

It should arrive about the time your Omicron booster is ready…

The Surgeon General says government imposed covid measures have doubled mental health issues amongst our youth and increased suicide attempts of adolescent girls by 51%. This is part of the price we’ve paid for what? How many youth have been saved by the covid measures imposed on them? Was it worth it?

Rising even higher among black girls. But their suffering hasn’t inspired political change much in the past either so maybe we shouldn’t talk about that

December 7, 2021 marks the 80th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
We need to put aside our differences and remember those who lost their lives. Your freedom to voice your opinions came at a price

Yeah the price of all the Americans that could have been saved by relaying the declaration of war by Japan. Remember who misinformed those people, it’s the same ones misinforming you today.

Wasn’t trying to turn it political. I guess I was too ambiguous with the point I was trying to make. Let me clarify. The military industrial complex has been lying for decades regardless of who “controls” the white house. They have sent millions to their deaths and don’t give two shits about you or anyone else.

You see the news article that Chinese are hiding cruise missile launchers in containers and cruising the container ships in strategic locations? Pretty sneaky, huh? Better than the Japanese at Pearl Harbor

If China invades Taiwan and Russia invades Ukraine at the same time, we’re F’ed with the Dems in power.
Xiden has alienated almost all our friends, Canada, France, EU, why would they support us after we left them with their pants down in Afghanistan?
I doubt Kamala’s shopping spree patched things up with France.
Victoria Nuland was telling the EU to go f themselves in the Obama administration, she’s baaaack.
Germany moving back to Russian for gas.
Trouble is brewing.

Our senile Uncle Joe had to beg Putin today to deliver more oil since Brandon’s cabal shut down pipelines and exploration in the US. Why is there less green house gas from burning Russian or Saudi oil then burning domestically produced oil? I’m not a scientist but seems Uncle Joe is having trouble with rational thought if that’s what he’s thinking. “Oil please, Ukraine no.” Doesn’t sound like Putin is buying.

Vaxers are definitely on the losing end of this argument now that omicron is out. I feel like im arguing with children at this point. In person it’s alot easier to deliver logic where people eventually have to acknowledge our perspective. Some even finally acknowledge it was a mistake to get vaccinated at all. That will be happening more frequently guaranteed.

Because the last thing the WH wants people to know is what’s happening around the World since Xiden took office.

Hey, young women prepare to be drafted, just in case.
They’ve been thinking about it and anything dropped can be revived.

Congress Drops Effort to Add Women to the Draft

Women will not have to sign up for a potential draft any time soon after an effort to add them to the Selective Service System was dropped from a sweeping defense bill.
A congressional aide confirmed to Military.com that a provision that would have required women to register for the draft will not be in the compromise version of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, that is expected to be released later Tuesday.

Anyone heard how many Americans are still alive in Afghanistan?
