A bit about Humboldt Hot Air: We are a community based online station and audio recording studio with a global reach. Our aim is to amplify the diverse voices we have in our community of Humboldt County California and the surrounding regions. We are a program of Playhouse Arts, Arcata’s local arts agency, and our studio is located right inside the Arcata Playhouse. The station has been operating for three months and has gathered many of KHSU’s former programmers along with numerous other DJs, presenting an eclectic selection of music. for more info, to see the program schedule, or to tune in, head to humboldthotair.org.

Major sponsorship for this benefit show comes from Pierson Building and the Faben Artist Fund.

Note: At the request of Jeff DeMark, we’ve removed the term radio.

Why is it called a radio.station when it doesnt go out over radio frequency???
Was so excited to have a radio station take the place of khsu.
Your assumption that you are providing sonething for the public shows your privelege.
There are thousands of folks with no access to internet in the hills and even in town. Its 100 a month for internet, plus all the hundreds in set up fees.

Youre fundraising for something that people already have to pay to get!!! F**k that!!!

PLEASE stop calling this a radio station, its not. Its an internet station.
If you try to apply for any monies as a RADIO station you will get turned in and boycotted. Let the real radio stations get the $!!!!
STOP fundraising as a radio station. Youre not one.

In fact Im going to donate to a real radio station right now and encourage everyone to do so.
Internet stations are classist. Radio is free.
I boycott you and hope others do the same.

“Its an internet station.” Actually, no. He’s pushing a mere web site like any other that will supposedly play music. Doesn’t sound so impressive when the hype is removed.

Oh my, how truly poetic this is: Jeff DeMark and “Humboldt Hot Air!”
Why?
Because a couple of years ago when all of the local dead wood was summarily ousted from KHSU, some of that lumber was none other than Mr. DeMark and OH, did he ever have a lot of stew to spew, repeatedly, to local media about the whole ugly and pathetic episode. Stated another way, OH, did Mr. DeMark have an abundance of hot air to share.
Some things never change as evidenced by these, his most recent public escapades.
Once again, truth proves stranger than fiction.

And lastly, I do agree with the post here about this NOT being radio in the traditional sense as Marconi would know it. Implying or stating it is that kind of radio is much bending of the facts, kinda like that KHSU thingy.
