Press release from the CDC:

On November 26, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified a new variant, B.1.1.529, as a Variant of Concern and has named it Omicron. No cases of this variant have been identified in the U.S. to date. CDC is following the details of this new variant, first reported to the WHO by South Africa. We are grateful to the South African government and its scientists who have openly communicated with the global scientific community and continue to share information about this variant with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and CDC. We are working with other U.S. and global public health and industry partners to learn more about this variant, as we continue to monitor its path.

CDC is continuously monitoring variants and the U.S. variant surveillance system has reliably detected new variants in this country. We expect Omicron to be identified quickly, if it emerges in the U.S.

We know what it takes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. CDC recommends people follow prevention strategies such as wearing a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission, washing your hands frequently, and physically distancing from others. CDC also recommends that everyone 5 years and older protect themselves from COVID-19 by getting fully vaccinated. CDC encourages a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose for those who are eligible.

Travelers to the U.S. should continue to follow CDC recommendations for traveling.

CDC will provide updates as more information becomes available.

All caps don’t hide the fact that the US is rapidly approaching 800,000 deaths, with half of those deaths occurring during Brandon’s administration. The vaccines have been available for 100% of Brandon’s administration.

Chew on that for awhile…

And Brandon and the rest of the Vermin on the left side of the aisle were preaching that the vaccines would be no good, wouldn’t be safe, we’re not taking them, etc. etc.

But when the vermin took majority in Congress and the executive office?

Vaccines and mandates to business!

Yes, Wee Willie, I’m aware you have chosen a side. I’ve chosen mine.

Anyone, who truly follows the science would know the facts. According to CDC, the majority of people have a high survival rate. This does not warrant forcing people into getting the vax. If, the Covid vaxxes are the perfect answer…then why do people have to sign a waiver to relinquish their right to sue, should they experience a problem or even die??? India won’t succumb to this for their people. Why should Americans? No one should be bullied or shamed into submission. No one wants anyone to die! However, I do find it hypocritical that the people who proudly use “my body, my choice” to murder babies are all of a sudden worried about “anyone dying.” Everyone needs to mind their own business…tend to their own immune system via diet & exercise to not fall into the high risk categories being overweight, diabetic etc. Parents should have the right to choose what is right for their children, who already have a strong immune system. If, one is wearing a mask, don’t worry about someone else. In general, with each passing day, everyone is a step closer to death. It’s time to start living life, not prematurely walk the plank of death.

I figure the covid situation is going to be ongoing for the unforseeable future. Masking & distancing are needed. I will continue to protect myself even though I am vaccinated (including booster).
I imagine that the vaccines wil be refined & improved to deal with the emerging variants.

Thank you for being considerate.

Re the booster, I believe this just the “first” booster, not “the” booster. Look at MMR (?time?), Tdap (10years), flu (every year).

“refined & improved”
I sure in the heck hope so. When, if, I finally get one, I sure don’t want one every six months. Which reminds me, I need to re-up my tetanus.

Tetanus generally comes from dirty animal pens or feces. Or dirt that had animals dropping their feces in it at one point in time so now it’s in the dirt. If you don’t get poked by something while your working in a pen or on land that used to have a pen or animals on it, you don’t really need to worry about tetanus.

Actually rose gardners are at risk from tetanus. They tend to get pricked and scraped, use organic fertilizers and mulches that have spores and are older without boosting their shots. Those spores live 20 years or more in the soil and can travel in dust.

Omicron doesn’t sound worse than a common cold.
“It presents mild disease with symptoms being sore muscles and tiredness for a day or two not feeling well,” Coetzee explained. “So far, we have detected that those infected do not suffer the loss of taste or smell. They might have a slight cough. There are no prominent symptoms. Of those infected some are currently being treated at home.”

Getting sick from a harmless coronavirus may protect you from COVID-19, researchers at the University of Zurich recently found.
A team of researchers found that antibody responses from previous coronavirus infections can help create immunity to COVID-19.

  • “People who have had strong immune responses to other human coronaviruses also have some protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection,” said Alexandra Trkola, head of the Institute of Medical Virology at the university, according to SciTechDaily.

What you think you have a better grip on was not what was being said by those who favor vaccination. You are just repeating the errors of your bias. You seem to think that people who favor vaccination over the Russian Roulette of anti vaxxers don’t belive in natural immunity. That is of course not what they say- it is just what anti vaxxers hear. Stop arguing against you own misunderstanding and read.

Vaccination is not some miracle medicine that circulates in the body forever to fight against disease. It is simply a way of exposing the natural immune system everyone has in varying degrees without the risk of the disease overwhelming the body before the naive immune system can react. As the article linked by grey fox says ““Of course, immune responses targeting SARS-CoV-2 that are mounted by the memory cells are far more effective than cross-reactive responses. But even though the protection isn’t absolute, cross-reactive immune responses shorten the infection and reduce its severity. And this is exactly what is also achieved through vaccination, just much, much more efficiently,” says Trkola.” It is so simple- vaccine is just a safer first exposure to target Sars-CoV-2 and leads to better responses than just previously having been exposed to related corona viruses. It’s just safer, more targeted and therefore better.

It’s pretty wide spread now with new data coming in. . They are just now starting to detect it.
The good news is that South African doctors are saying the cases they have seen have mild symptoms. But need a couple of more weeks to see how serious it is

. . .mild symptoms.” Elsewhere I heard it is more easily spread and immune to vaccine. Sounds like it is evolving/mutating right on schedule and into a common virus: one that lives with the host, without killing it, long enough to be spread to the next host, mutating a little asking the way to stay one step ahead of vaccines, then come back to the original host, and on, and on . . . .

The Omicron variant carries worrisome mutations that may let it evade antibodies, scientists said. But it will take more research to know how it fares against vaccinated people. Dr. Hanage and other researchers said that vaccines will most likely protect against Omicron, but further studies are needed to determine how much of the shots’ effectiveness may be reduced.

So, more time. Funny, I think I’ve said that phrase a few times.

I wonder if, on a molecular level, or however they do it, they can tell if it evolved on its own or if, and because, it came into contact with a vaccine. I’m sure if it’s the latter we’ll never know. Not anytime soon at least.

Actually yes , putting pressure on a virus will cause it to mutate into new variants. Leaky vaccines are known to cause viruses to mutate to become vaccine resistant.

The issue with these mrna vaccines is that they do not indue immunity to the virus, but to a particular aspect of the virus (in this case the spike protein). So while a traditional vaccine should produce a generally broad immunity to a virus, these vaccines should produce a narrow immunity to this particular protein.

If, in the natural course of viral mutation, the spike protein is modified and that modified spike protein containing virus finds itself as part of the viral load in a vaccinated person then the vaccine would provide a selective pressure for the mutated virus.

Million have not died from vaccinations nor become infertile nor had magnetized arms nor is covid just the flu. Nor does the vaccine contain the virus nor does vitamin c, d, garlic necklaces, etc prevent infection nor was a computer chips being injected. Nor are 99% of doctors lying to them, nor all deaths on VAERS caused by vaccination nor did india conquer covid with ivermectin. This list of anti vaxxer nonsense could go on forever.

I did end up getting vaccinated after alot of thought, but I certainly didn’t sign up to get another every 6-12 months. And I would bet a good chunk of change Omicron is in the US already. Sparking Next-Generation Discovery in Science and MedicineUnleash new possibilities in exploration and research with advanced memory and storage technologies.

DNA’s Awesome Potential to Store the World’s DataLIKE THIS STORY:

Humanity is on the cusp of an information explosion unlike anything seen before. What will we do with all the data we produce?
This is not an inconsequential question. Our computers, smart devices, televisions, thermostats, home security systems, digital personal assistants, wearables, cars, robots and other devices are generating and using data in exponentially increasing amounts.
Five years ago, all the data ever produced by our digital technologies totaled 4.4 zettabytes (ZB). That’s 4.4 sextillion bytes — quite a lot of information. Today, we have eclipsed that number: We now produce about 16ZB every year, and by 2025, that number is expected to increase tenfold.
We collect, process and store that data using microchips made primarily of silicon, found in sand. Although it is the second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust, silicon in its pure form — the kind required for fabricating many types of computer chips — is rare, making up less than 10% of the total silicon supply.
And we are using it up quickly. The data deluge could deplete the world’s supply of computer-grade silicon by 2040, according to one study, a significant challenge to new technology and digital progress.
One way to avert this disaster is to improve silicon-refinement processes. In addition, researchers are seeking alternative materials for data processing and storage, such as gallium oxide, hafnium diselenide and zirconium diselenide, and graphene.
But among the alternative materials is another possibility — deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA.

Here’s more interesting info.

Biotech
DNA Data Storage Is Closer Than You ThinkLife’s information-storage system is being adapted to handle massive amounts of information

Every minute in 2018, Google conducted 3.88 million searches, and people watched 4.33 million videos on YouTube, sent 159,362,760 e-mails, tweeted 473,000 times and posted 49,000 photos on Instagram, according to software company Domo. By 2020 an estimated 1.7 megabytes of data will be created per second per person globally, which translates to about 418 zettabytes in a single year (418 billion one-terabyte hard drive’s worth of information), assuming a world population of 7.8 billion. The magnetic or optical data-storage systems that currently hold this volume of 0s and 1s typically cannot last for more than a century, if that. Further, running data centers takes huge amounts of energy. In short, we are about to have a serious data-storage problem that will only become more severe over time.
An alternative to hard drives is progressing: DNA-based data storage. DNA—which consists of long chains of the nucleotides A, T, C and G—is life’s information-storage material. Data can be stored in the sequence of these letters, turning DNA into a new form of information technology. It is already routinely sequenced (read), synthesized (written to) and accurately copied with ease. DNA is also incredibly stable, as has been demonstrated by the complete genome sequencing of a fossil horse that lived more than 500,000 years ago. And storing it does not require much energy.
But it is the storage capacity that shines. DNA can accurately stow massive amounts of data at a density far exceeding that of electronic devices. The simple bacterium Escherichia coli, for instance, has a storage density of about 1019 bits per cubic centimeter, according to calculations published in 2016 in Nature Materials by George Church of Harvard University and his colleagues. At that density, all the world’s current storage needs for a year could be well met by a cube of DNA measuring about one meter on a side.
The prospect of DNA data storage is not merely theoretical. In 2017, for instance, Church’s group at Harvard adopted CRISPR DNA-editing technology to record images of a human hand into the genome of E. coli, which were read out with higher than 90 percent accuracy. And researchers at the University of Washington and Microsoft Research have developed a fully automated system for writing, storing and reading data encoded in DNA. A number of companies, including Microsoft and Twist Bioscience, are working to advance DNA-storage technology.

Omicron…. Is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet and is the number 70. It is a secret message. The 15th letter of our alphabet is o, add another o and you get the infinity symbol which is the next letter in the Greek alphabet Pi. Combine 15 and 70 you get 1570. Mar 4 1570 King Philip II bans foreign Dutch students. We need to ban all Dutch students from American soil

Lambda, too.

Omicron is a little more unpredictable though, I think…

That’s a lot of spike protein mutations in not enough time.

I don’t think this is just a mutation.

This is a totally different, human engineered, incarnation.

It’s a new release, coming soon, to a theater near you.

Apparently, instead of an RO of 1.5, it has a RO of 2.

Hard to say what the incubation period is. Delta’s is 2-3 days.

I do have hope that this variant will be both mild enough not to kill anti vaxxers and those to whom they spread disease yet contagious enough that most of them will get it and develop some immunity to the other variants. So far they have stubbornly believed in their own invulnerability when mostly they simply had not yet been exposed. Heaven knows they were never going to listen about vaccination to anyone other than fellow conspiracy nuts.

https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-business-health-1193e06ba05cab1a3941387b226cd5ab

The only question is whether omicron is universally as mild an infection as has been reported and, if it is, whether it conveys enough immunity that more severe variants are no longer so dangerous. Then, despite the damaging idiocy of anti vaxxer beliefs, maybe covid can be put behind us.

I just love it when the anti vaxxer misinformation machine has been in overdrive long enough that someone has already put up a fact check on them. Saves me mountains of time. “The claim that hospitals aren’t “overrun” by COVID-19, they’re understaffed, is PARTLY FALSE, based on our research. Hospitals across the country are spread thin by both COVID-19 and understaffing; the two variables work together to create the burdens hospitals are facing, experts say.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/09/24/fact-check-hospitals-nationwide-both-overrun-and-understaffed/5700211001/

So when the efficacy of vaccination wanes, they become as bad as those who just refuse vaccination? How insulting. It’s also not true even if the numbers of vaccinated in hospitals are increasing. “However, during the assessed period, rates of new cases increased among both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated adults, with lower relative rates among fully vaccinated persons. ”

As part of a broader voter intimidation effort, the department says, the pair posed as a “group of Proud Boys volunteers” and created a fabricated video depicting a person hacking state voter websites and using the information obtained to create fake absentee ballots.

The video was then distributed in October 2020 to Republican members of the House and Senate, White House officials, former President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign, and members of the media. An accompanying message warned of Democratic efforts to exploit “serious security vulnerabilities,” capitalizing on Trump’s rhetoric against mail-in balloting during the 2020 campaign.

That same month, hackers also allegedly sent intimidating emails to tens of thousands of registered Democrats, threatening them with violence if they didn’t switch parties and vote for Trump.

Your ridiculous to think it’s not the democratic controlled media with there biased news that trump referred to as fake news. Fake news is literally the news article propaganda that you are reposting. How do people not see that our country is under siege by people like Biden and the sheep keep following and pushing it. I don’t think these people are dumb but just identify themselves as part of this liberal democratic movement boo hoo feel sorry for yourself and everyone attitude and your being played by the democratic politicians that are clearly pretending to help the people while pushing an alternate agenda and supporters of this can’t give it up because sometimes a lot of people can’t admit they are wrong. People should try admitting they are wrong and it will never work and to do the math to what it will end up doing to the world in the future. Because in the end others see right through it and you end up only lying only to yourselves. Democrats are destroying all of our freedoms not republicans. Biden has done nothing he had promised his followers. Minimum wage ? Now an infrastructure plan that will be paid by go after citizens to collect more taxes . The infrastructure is obviously only going to benefit medical corporations and retail corporations such as Amazon to create autonomous infrastructure. So in the end the corporation’s will own the entire economy and we will all be given government checks because there is no more room for us to make money. This all equals communism. Biden won’t even help with the frieghtship problem because it’s being created by people that are in control because guess what Amazon has its own ports . Open your eyes it’s happening.

June 29, 2021, 4:59 PM PDT
By Gabe Gutierrez and Al Henkel
EL PASO, Texas — Federal agents in this section of the southern border say they’ve seen a staggering 4,000 percent increase in fentanyl seizures over the last three years.
Those busts are not at ports of entry, where most smuggled drugs are typically found. The Border Patrol says the rising amount of fentanyl is being found in the desert – transported by increasingly brazen smugglers who are exploiting stretched federal resources.
In 2018, the Border Patrol in the El Paso sector found just one pound of fentanyl outside ports of entry. In 2019, two pounds. In 2020, nine.
During the 2021 fiscal year, agents have found 41 pounds so far – a dramatic rise that experts attribute to the increasing role in drug cartels producing the illicit drug themselves with raw materials from China. The sharp rise from 2018 to 2020 suggests the coronavirus pandemic did not artificially inflate the 2021 numbers.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal, depending on a person’s body size. One kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people. A kilogram is roughly 2.2 pounds.
“For the first time, we’re starting to see these tactics where fentanyl is being smuggled between ports of entry,” Chief Border Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez said in an interview. “Cartels are very creative. They find ways to intimidate migrants and find ways to illegally have them transport that narcotic into the United States.”

🎅🎅Pounds compared to tons that come in through shipping. Do really think there that stupid. What they bust at the boarder is pocket change compared to what slips through the ports. Seen in the the News all those ships setting off the California coast needing to be unloaded,I’ll bet you that as soon as they start moving fentanyl sells and deaths will increase. ☃️☃️

A present wave of democratic erosion around the globe is part of a larger historic cycle of progress and regression, according to the author of a report released this week designating U.S. democracy as “backsliding” for the first time.

“There is a mimicking effect that also comes into play, which we saw from the mid-1970s onwards in the world, a third wave of democratization. What we are clearly seeing now is a reverse wave,” says Annika Silva-Leander, who authored the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance’s annual report on the Global State of Democracy. “Less countries (are) becoming democratic (and those) that are democratic (are) declining in quality. Therefore, their models and systems are discredited…The democratic world is quite fragmented right now.”

Our democracy transformed into an authoritarian government as a direct result of our education, free press, and tech transforming into propaganda arms of the leftist cabal. Can any sane person not see the bias they inject in their teaching, reporting, and allowed content? What became of free speech and the press questioning authority? How far will the people allow authoritarianism to progress before we push back? We’d be better off under the CCCP than our self serving elitist cabal.

What mess? Trump created the strongest economy in history and the lowest gas prices in twenty years. He stood his ground against every problematic foreign country. Secured our borders from the free for all that the Democrats create. Created the lowest unemployment rate in over twenty years or more. The only mess is the massive one Biden has created in a year in office that the next three generations will be trying to fix.

Covid dipped the economy not trump and it was still much much better than after Obama’s eight years. He’s the one who put into action the fastest created vaccine in history. Obama created the low stockpile of medical emergency supplies. How can you blame anything on him. No one knew the extent of this. And he had to deal with Fauci who is an obvious snake in the grass.

He was a name calling bully and that’s it. 🎅🎅He still is the laughing stock. Got played by North Korea got played by China her road the coat tails of the Obama economy and tried his best to pick apart every that did keep it steady. It wasn’t rocket speed but it was steady growth. And yes Covid has been the big factor in the economy but he lied to us and delayed crucial medical care at the beginning and denied it even was happening. Then snunk around everyone’s back and got vaccinated. He told 300 lies a day you couldn’t believe what was coming out of his mouth. Did you ever take him up on his disinfectant recommendation?🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️

Ever found a politician who doesn’t lie, take advantage of their position or “snuck around?” It’s innate to the job. No one wins an election by being truthful to those who don’t like what they hear. Obama was no better – he was just better at not saying anything when he gave speeches. Then he did what he never got around to mentioning.

The thing I liked about Trump was that, while he was likely to say anything, he was more likely to actually do the best that could be done. And when he was not engaged in demagoguery, he was pretty right on. Too many people listened to the words but ignored what was actually done, just like they were soothed by Obama’s words when they would have objected to his actions had he bothered to tell anyone. It’s not that Trump was such a liar as much as he was a bad liar. Obama was just better at lying. Trump had a hard time keeping his mouth shut. Trump was irritating. Obama was soothing. But both lied constantly.

I couldn’t stand Trump and his arrogant reality show, but I started watching how rocket man stopped with the blast offs that scared the poop out of Hawaii, and the country started recovering economically.
Companies started bringing back manufacturing.
He stared letting black people out of jail that had shown promise in their lives while incarcerated.
Compare just that, and so much more with Hillary’s bought and paid for coup and Biden’s hiding in the basement using C-19 to get elected by promoting fear, ignoring the economic destruction, there’s no comparison as to who did a better job.

Maybe someone can tell me in 16 years in office how the Clinton’s and Obama’s helped brown people.

No detected cases. Lol. It supposedly spread faster than delta where it originated, so is likely already on our shores, but will take a few weeks- months to become dominant if it’s the fittest version of the virus now. Just remains to be seen if it will out compete delta and if vaccines are ineffective against it.

Looking unlikely but that will not stop anti vaxxers from assuming that is what is being said in order to insult those who believe vaccination has been a good.

Me? I hope with this man that “The Omicron variant could be a “Christmas gift” and may make the pandemic end sooner, a German clinical epidemiologist has said.
Professor Karl Lauterbach, who is running to be Germany’s next health minister, said the new variant could be positive if it causes milder illness.”

Biden to delay suspending unvaccinated federal workers until after holidaysThe White House’s Office of Management and Budget is telling federal agencies they should hold off on suspending or firing federal workers for not complying with the vaccine mandate until after the holidays, according to a memo obtained by ABC News.
This change, which has not yet been publicly announced, comes as President Joe Biden is putting pressure on private employers to embrace their own vaccine mandates.

As has been repeatedly said, all you have to do is survive the first one without damage. Oh and avoid getting older with a weaker immune system. All the vaccine does is give a running start on survival from the first infection. It doesn’t guarantee more. But no dying straight off is a good thing.
