Donavan Baltzley, Known for Dog Killing, Arrested on Charges Related to What DTF Calls the Biggest Fentanyl Bust in Hum. CO.
This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
Donavan Baltzley
On Wednesday November 24th, 2021, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), made a traffic stop on Donavan Baltzley (33 years old from Eureka) and Morgan Larkin (31 years old from Freshwater) as they entered Humboldt County on northbound Highway 101. The HCDTF had been investigating Baltzley and Larkin for trafficking fentanyl from the Bay Area into Humboldt County. Baltzley was the driver of the vehicle and is on active PRCS probation. Baltzley is also out of jail on bail from a recent HCSO arrest where he was located with a gun and fentanyl.

Baltzley and Larkin were detained without incident.
Agents conducted a probation search of Baltzley’s vehicle, and they located the following evidence:
- 6 ounces of fentanyl (purple, pink, white, and green)
- 4 ounces of “pure” heroin
- 1 ounce of methamphetamine
- $10,050 of US currency
- Digital scale
- Packaging
The 6 ounces of fentanyl is the largest seizure of fentanyl in HCDTF history and has a local street value of approx. $25,000.
Baltzley and Larkin were both arrested and booked for the following charges:
- H&S 11352(b) Transportation of controlled substances across non-contiguous counties
- H&S 11352(a) Transportation of controlled substances for sale
- H&S 11351 Possession of controlled substances for sale
- H&S 11378 Possession of methamphetamine for sale
- H&S 11379(a) Transportation of methamphetamine for sale
- H&S 11379(b) Transportation of methamphetamine across non-contiguous counties
The HCDTF contacted a Humboldt County Superior Court Judge and requested a bail increase and source of bail funds hold on Baltzley pursuant to Penal Code sections 1269(c), 1270.1(e), and 1275.1. This request was made as a result of Baltzley’s repeated criminal behavior in Humboldt County. Because in Humboldt he’s just a local kid who made some bad choices and you lack empathy for judging him.
Related news stories show he’s only killed half a dozen dogs. Amateur. There’s a guy in Mendo that has killed 500 or more. No repercussions ’cause he wore a badge. Both seem to be socio or psychopaths.

I don’t know his name but this guy around Laytonville that worked as a trapper for the county or possibly US fish and wildlife. I believe the trapping was research related. He shot a lot of loose dogs on Spyrock and I’m sure all over the place. Sometimes in front of families out looking for their dog. Real piece of work.

What is known for certain: Mr. Baltzley is from Eureka, a town legendary for his ilk. We’re proud up here.
I believe less than 3% of the population is clinically sociopathic. That would make him special.
Latest estimate from psychologists is that up to 8% of the population might be suffering from Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD) which is now the current clinical term for sociopathy and psychopathy according to the designated handbook in that field the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). Many are institutionalized but many are still walking around. Figure it’s a safe guess to say 1 out of every 15 people you meet is a sociopath/psychopath. I’m an amateur studier of the “fascinating” people and in my long and extensive experience in the black market weed world I’d say that many of these are attracted to it and come to remain in Humboldt. The weed world offers ample opportunity to represent yourself in many fictitious ways that are very uncheckable. People come and go and memories are short. Ethics and morals are ambiguous and very flexible. We have a wonderful environment for sociopaths/ psychopaths and when they score big cash (by whatever means they claim) we honor and worship them. It’s really bad here. I’d say we are closer to every 1 in 10 people or 10% of our population including of course the hills and backcountry scenes where it’s probably even higher than town.
p.s.- People with this condition cannot be rehabilitated. They do not get better. They are not all evil but many are. It is a mistake to have compassion for them. If you have never experienced one then you may not believe how cold they can be…you may be sucked into believing their lies and manipulations. Evil does truly exist- Please believe that. And spend your energy protecting the innocent…not the evil ones spinning lies

A story of a hero dog helping save it’s owner involved in an accident on highway 36 show many of the quality characteristics that dog showed by it’s actions. To name a few: loyalty, empathy, intelligent, determination, and love. To put it simply- the dog has it’s priorities together far more that this person does.

Now he at the time had 3 sisters I know and one of them is evil like him, one of them is a good person, but he had a little sister, who I would always feel bad for she was always sad, And I saw how much she went through, the short time I knew her…She got her Indian money and what most big brothers would probably protect there little sister Donovan pretty much did the opposite…..
He made her up a shot knowing it would put her out and took every dollar she had it was like 18000 I seen him shortly after that happens I guess and he gave me some money to take him to the casino…
I got home and herd what happened and felt so bad for her and she got out of the hospital and came to my house and I gave her the money he gave to me for the ride and just felt bad for her ….
She passed away a couple years ago at the age of 26 🥀
