Just before 8:30 a.m., a law enforcement agency requested assistance with a female male suspect who had barricaded himself in an apartment in the 2500 block of Alliance Road in Arcata.

Multiple agencies and officers as well as medical personnel responded to the incident. A K-9 officer was requested to respond also.

About 9:10 a.m., the officer deployed his K-9. The suspect was detained. Medical was requested though it isn’t clear if there were any injuries or if this request was just precautionary.

We’ve requested more information from Arcata Police.

UPDATE 11:29 a.m.: Samantha Karges from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department just corrected us. She explained, “The suspect was actually a male and he was apprehended by HCSO K9 Yahtzee. The arrest is the result of a Drug Task Force investigation. DTF should be putting more information out about it later today.”

I wish they would say “Release the hounds!” over the radio.
