A Whimsical Warren of Watery Witches (The Second Annual Witches Paddle Spread Magic on the Bay Yesterday)

he 2nd Annual Witches Paddle almost didn’t happen as the predicted rain and winds threatened to put a damper on the event. As the small group of brave souls gathered at the Eureka Public Marina the winds calmed for a brief spell and the rains stopped. The group paddled up past the foot of F street and then returned to the boat ramp.

As the small group of brave souls gathered at the Eureka Public Marina the winds calmed for a brief spell and the rains stopped. Yesterday, the Second Annual Witches Paddle added a magical black mist over Humboldt Bay as pointy hatted souls gathered to spread a little seasonal sparkle to the community and “express the power of women while celebrating Halloween” as the invite explained.

The weather briefly calmed, no doubt due to various charms cast, and wielding their paddles, the witches enjoyed a watery stretch while adding a bit of whimsy to the community.

We didn’t get the invite. We would have been there. Thanks for the story and photos, Mark. Perhaps next year you can pass on the invite sooner?

They used their powers to calm the water. Are some of them walking on water? No wait they appear to be standing on something. Are those called witch crafts

Why do witches not wear a regular hat? Because there’s no point in it. -heard at a witches convention-

They are just out out for a spell, trying to out-exorcise each other.

King Arthur and Sir Belvedere taught us to discern how those aren’t real witches but are only dressed as one. A real witch floats on water without a paddle board, because she weighs the same as a duck.
