Firefighters Responding to Smoldering Trailer on Spy Rock Road

Structure Fire LaFeverScanner traffic beginning at approximately 12:40 p.m. indicated Laytonville Fire has been dispatched to a location near the intersection of Spy Rock Road and Karma Road after reports emerged of a trailer burned down and smoldering at that location.

The reporting party told dispatch the trailer, which is reportedly 1/2 mile past the Spy Rock Elementary School, most likely burned down last night and went unnoticed and unreported.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

I saw this burning . Stoped and yelled if they needed help .I saw someone feeding the fire and he responded with a very unfriendly “go away!”
Suspicious at least

I suppose people burn vehicles to not pay wrecking fees, and it is raining, but any chance this isn’t this person’s first or last fire?

It’s going to be tough to find it with no road sign 🙂

I’m pretty sure that the issue is that without a title, it costs several thousand dollars to scrap a POS worthless trailer. No one ever really thinks about it when they buy a used trailer on the mountain or tows one up there and a temporary residence. That’s why folks tow them to a county road and torch them in the rain. Pretty crappy, but could easily be prevented with some policy changes.
