A Drop of Kindness on a Wet Evening
This section, Good News, isn’t just about big events. It can be about the little kind deeds that warm your heart.
Below a letter of thank you to a thoughtful stranger.
Dear Dane (and your parents,)
Tuesday evening, I was loading a rather large amount of groceries from my shopping cart parked under the eaves of the Miranda Market (one of my favorite grocery stores) into my pickup truck in the pouring rain.
I was actually sort of enjoying the blessed rain when I looked up through my dripping hair to see you standing by my cart. You grabbed a bag and ferried it and eventually all the rest of my groceries to me as I quickly filled the backseat of my pickup.
You only stayed long enough for me to thank you and ask your name before driving off.
For the last few days that small act has made me smile several times. It’s not the carrying the groceries. It’s the looking around and seeing a chubby old lady in the rain and pitching in to help.
So Dane (and the likely good folks who raised you to look around and pitch in), I hope this thank you note finds its way to your eyes.
Your kindness was heartwarming.
With much appreciation,
Kym

There are still lots of good people out there.

“Chubby old lady”?
Don’t be so hard on yourself!
Thanks for this tale of hope!
